I booked, I waited, I left without my main course or else we would have missed the curtain at the theatre. Lack of concern from the waitress yes, it's on its way.. but when??? We had to approach the manager, who was trying to get the food out from the kitchen; would we still like it ?? With minutes to eat?? Erm, no!!! In fairness, he did ask us to come back for a free meal after the theatre by way of apology, but having gone in hours before the theatre to give us plenty of time and avoid this situation, I was most upset especially as I had visiting family. I’m sorry to bust the “Ask” bubble but I would not recommend a visit to this restaurant. The décor is generic and lacks character, an atmosphere that is not helped by the fact that the staff squash in as many tables/people as possible. This feeling of being a mere statistic continues as you are rushed through your meal so that the next set of people can be brought in. The food is ok but not spectacular and is a far cry from proper Italian. I may be doing Ask an injustice but I didn’t feel as though I had been treated after a visit to this restaurant. If you are in the mood for good Italian grub, I suggest a visit to Bella Italia or Jamie’s Italian across the street.
Having booked earlier as it was a Friday night in Oxford before Christmas, the restaurant could not find our booking. However having shown them the booking on the phone, they were able to get us a table quickly and with no fuss, even though the restaurant was very busy. Felt this was a minor hitch and the staff dealt with it well. Food was very good and arrived quickly, one of our guests felt the portion size on their ravioli was a little small but the rest of had no problems, Deserts were really good!
we can just go after a wonderful show and we were so glad to say the meal we had rounded off a perfect day. my sister in law in gluten intolerant and the personalized time spent explaining with her all the meals she could have and I must say that this restaurant offered the best choices we have ever given. the staff and the service were amazing. when we come back to oxford, this will be our restaurant of choice.

So had a great birthday party on Sunday and decided to end in this restaurant, as I love this chain, we went in and they had no tables, but as I mentioned, it was my birthday the beautiful khadija made me feel special and found us a table, they bought us free bubbles that made my day, the eating was amazing and the staff was nice and attentive to give our afternoon off bought from the
The staff were so great they went out of their way to find us a table and make us feel welcome. The food was good but nothing spectacular, pretty much what I'd expect from a high street chain so we were happy. The restaurant is in a good central location, and even on a Sunday night was busy and fun to be in. Loved the mural and the disco ball!
Ask is a great place to take a group of friends because it has the sort of menu that appeals to a wide range of people.The food is good, the service is good, and if you've got a large party they have a downstairs room. You'd best make a reservation if you want a table at the weekends though, because Ask is a popular venue.
Great little place for pre or after theatre meal. The food was great and the service very good as we were on a tight timescale before our booking at the Theatre. Overall the value was good but the cost was bumped up by the price of drinks.

Lovely Italian grub! Great atmosphere and lovely decor. The chicken penne pasta dish with pine nuts is delicious and the deserts are well worth breaking a diet for!
Yes we would recommend. The shared anti pasta fish was super and good value for money.
