Dropped by after an afternoon show at the State theatre & was pleasantly surprised. Located in the basement of the QVB, you probably won't notice this place unless you specifically look for it . The decor is funky & upbeat & quite noisy - very much like a typical eatery in Bangkok. But all this lends to the authentic feel & its probably not a place you'd go to for a romantic dinner. The best part of course is the food. The crispy fried whiting was perfectly fried - eaten whole, head, fins & tail. The green curry fried rice was equally delicious as was the green vegetables with crispy pork. Service was friendly, prompt & helpful. And the best part - the price. A full delicious meal for around...

After my favorite Thai restaurant in Sydney closed, leaving me without its delicious Pad Siew, I spent two years searching for a replacement. Finally, I discovered Assamm-Thai in the QVB basement in Sydney's CBD. When the waitress brought me my Pad Siew, I couldn't contain my joy. The dish was just right - not too oily, plenty of seafood, and the perfect noodle thickness. The chef clearly knows Thai street cuisine. I resisted the urge to hug him and instead decided to become a regular customer. While the menu offers other dishes and desserts, my heart was set on Pad Siew. I paired it with a pot of Green Tea. QVB is easily accessible by bus, train, and foot, and soon, by tram. The building al...

I had finished business in the city and had to get a WestBus home for the QVB stop. Decided to try this restaurant as I love Thai food having been to Thailand many times. The ambiance was a little bland and was noisily busy at this lunch time. Several wait stuff were in attendance and I got served politely and promptly. A delay of 30 minutes allowed me to see other diners food and gauging by the faces they were enjoying there food and also sip on my Singha. My order 63 of crispy fried pork belly was tasty and quite sharp. Most enjoyable and modest cost.

We went there on Saturday night for dinner; I was a bit concerned as it was very quiet! Am I glad we stayed! The food was simply delicious ! We ordered the wonton soup, fish rice and stir fried seafood. It was all delicious and different to what we normally order, especially the fish rice and the seafood was to die for! Juicy plump prawns with just the right spice! If there is any criticism it would be that it can be a bit messy getting the head and tail off! Would definitely go back! Réservez une table maintenant

I have chance to have lunch (twice) in this Thai restaurant inside Victoria Queen building.+ The waiters and waitresses are friendly.+ The order is quick to deliver.+ I order fried rice and a rice with meat for the two lunches. The taste is good.+ There are about 50 - 60 choices including different kind of Thai beverages. + The price is reasonable. With a drink, my orders cost about AUD16 and AUD21.- Sometimes, they forget you come and it takes time to ask them to take an order.

Came here for a pre-theatre meal on a Friday night, and was really impressed with the quality of the food. Everything was incredibly fresh and very tasty. The rice paper rolls were amazing, and the chicken chilli stir-fry and pad thai were just full of flavour. The restaurant has a really nice modern feel to it, and the prices are very reasonable. The meal was capped off nicely with a very yummy glass of sauv blanc. Very impressed by the food here!

Raced in and ordered some chicken satay with peanut sauce followed by Tom Yum fried rice with prawns. Both were served quickly and were outstanding. Satay is satay and I find it's usually good but these were just that bit better.....tender and full of flavour with lots of sauce. The fried rice was next level and with plenty of prawns. Highly recommended.

Fresh ingredients, delicious flavors, inexpensive lunch for a central CBD restaurant. The service is quick and a great location to meet for lunch with friends. Réservez une table maintenant

Loved the food, the staff, the space, and was surprisingly cheap! We had two mains with rice, an entree and a beer for under $50
