One of the worst meals I've had in the area. They feature delicate pork cuts with 90% fat. Don't eat pork? Well, they do deliver cartilage with oily crispy skin as a replacement for their chicken. With cold plain rice and whittled salad, this just amounts to the most abysmal thing I've seen from a restaurant. Service doesn't disappoint either! Its just like at home, there's a dish tray of dirty dishes which you can help yourself to clean with the sink adjacent - with the waiter aspiring to be Halley's Comet only showing himself every 75-76 years, we were left to go ahead and seat ourselves. On the upside, they're obviously animal lovers - If you get a chance to peek into the kitchen, don't le...

Just had dinner at Bamboe Cafe and not impressed at all.One of the worst meals I ever had.First of all the Loempia's are just springrolls. We had chicken satay sticks, the sate didn't look nor tasted like sate!they had on the bottom a sweat soya sauce and on top some really light colour frothy sate???The chicken wasn't the best cooked and a lot were of fatty pieces.Main meal, rice in bamboe leaves were tasting yuk, on my plate I had beef which looked exactly like a rubber sole of a shoe and I would say a rubber sole probably would have tasted better! The bathroom was so filthy and my shoes were sticking to the ground when walking back.My wife couldn't eat much because of the tastes and I force...

I agree with ivettainaray that this is the best indonesian restaurant so far that I tried over the years (13 years) in Melbourne. The restaurant is recently renovated. Bear in mind the seats are still crowded. Regular customers. Good portion. Usually have the chicken with rice dishes (rotating between the fried, seasoned or grilled chicken).Warning, the sambal is very hot in my opinion! I usually pass it on to my friends for them to sweat it out.Customers service has improved recently with reasonable time to take order and cook to serve. At one stage (last year), some staffs have been slacking in taking orders and food being cook and served has delayed (waiting time about an hour).A recommend...

Been in Melbourne for 4 years and this is the best so far. The portion is big. I ordered Nasi Campur (rice with several side dishes on the plate). To my surprise, the side dishes were more complete than what I expected. But it wasn't fully authentic though, with the fact that they replaced the cassava leaves (daun singkong) in 'Urap' to cabbage (understandable; it might be hard/expensive to find/buy cassava leaves here). The prices are high and the food doesn't compare to Nelayan in Hawthorn on Glenferrie Road. They don't serve fresh food and will sell leftovers from the night before. The deep-fried chicken is clearly reheated multiple times, resulting in tough meat. In comparison to KFC and Red Rooster, it falls short.

Our group of 4 had a lovely dinner here. Ordered their Nasi Ayam Rica-rica which was spicy and delicious. Good meal and a great bargain at AUD9.90. Only negative were the place a bit dated and bit rundown. If you are looking for delicious and real spicy food, this is one place for you to try!

Nasi Goreng Ikan Asin was very nice. Staff were very helpful and fast. The place could benefit from cleaning - the mirrors and door glass were dirty which sets an expectation that isn't in keeping with the food. I'd go back as the food was good, and hope to see it cleaner next time.

The food was always good at Bamboe but we went recently for dinner and the quality of the dishes have all of a sudden changed for the worse. My wife could not even finish her meal which she loved to eat at Bamboe due to the change in quality. Réservez une table maintenant
