"Had a night in Hanover and wanted space with great food, but not too formal. Beckets was ideal. The staff was great, although only one of us spoke German. They helped us really get memories of Balthasar Ress GG Riesling. The food was delicious and meticulous. We tried oysters, borillas, steak and I had carvings, which was a real treat. Not touristy, just the type of quality you hope to live near!"

Beckers is three blocks east of the Lister Meile Ubahn stop, just two stops north of the Hauptbahnhof. It's in a nice old building on the corner, with large windows overlooking the street and some outdoor seating. I only tolerate German food, but Beckers does a good job with it. I had the fixed four-course menu, which featured a lot of asparagus in April. The appetizer with smoked salmon was excellent, and the soup was nice and balanced. The main course and dessert were rather bland and not even that creative, but as I said, I'm not a reliable critic of German food. The interior is lovely, the atmosphere relaxed, the clientele genteel, and the service very good. Menus are available in English. There is a nice selection of wines and cocktails: they actually occupy more of the menu, which is a bit more limited in food choices. There is at least one vegetarian option per course, a rarity in Germany. All in all, worth visiting and certainly if you like the local cuisine.

This is a very, very good restaurant. The quality of the cooking is excellent, the ambiance is relaxing and unpretentious and pricing is at a level where you can easily convince yourself that you should go at least once a week in order not miss out on the new wonders the kitchen has been busy creating and offering in addition to its extensive grill menu.We had an isolated incident with service on one very busy evening earlier in the year and can happily report that the service now matches the exceptional quality of the cooking, a meal there last evening was top class in all respects. Becker's easily earns a position as one of Hannover's top 5 restaurants.

The room, like the head waiter was very good looking ;0). I use a waking frame and stick and he helped me up the entrance steps which was very welcome. NB the loos are down a very steep spiral staircase. There is a handrail but it still proved quite challenging. Clearly it would be impossible for anybody in a wheelchair. I am sorry to say I have a couple of negative comments; My choice of wine was changed without any consultation. The beef carpaccio had (far too much) tomato added. The soup was amazing – loved that!Given that this was the most expensive meal I had in Hannover and the least impressive I struggle to recommend Becker's.

Beckers has been on my 'visit' list since it opened last year. I attended with a colleague and whilst the service was good, the meals were poor. The starters were satisfactory, and we then reviewed main course options with the staff, as were both keen on 'rare' steaks. My colleague changed his mind due to the recommendation, yet both steaks were served medium at best.I really like the location and ambience of this restaurant, so it was a real shame that the food did not reflect the either the location or the service offered by the staff.
