We had a long table in the Garden booked for a work lunch on Friday (12 May). A couple of us had been to Bells before and enjoyed it so we arranged for the work lunch to be held there. Big mistake.The lunch meals took ages. Some were over an hour and four people didn't received their meals at all before leaving. Communication from staff to our table was poor. Why not let people know up front if there is going to be a big delay. Frankly it didn't seem to worry staff that people were leaving without getting their food (they were happy to provide refunds but certainly not inspiring anyone to come back). i have been to Bells many times over the years. Had to attend a farewell party there last Saturday and i wasn't impressed. The main reason is the staff seemed to have no idea what they were doing.Ordered a bottle of Champagne of the wine list list only to be told they didn't have it 5 minutes later, so ordered another one same delay to find out it was also not available.Question what do you have ? We dined as a family of 2 adults and 3 children a few nights ago. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated and were able to order straight away for the kids. The guy who served us was very friendly and had the kids meals to the table in no time. It was nice to have something a little different from the stock standard nuggets and chips kids menu.Our other meals were all delicious, from the calamari to the awesome burger and enormous parmy's. Again, our waiter was fantastic making sure we were happy with our meals and ensuring hubby and I had a well earned wine and beer in hand.Will definately be back, was a great pub feed with nice furnishings and good atmosphere.
We visited on a Tuesday evening after a business meeting. It was very quiet in the bar and there was less than 10 people eating. The menu consisted of fairly standard pub dishes. I chose the chicken Parma which was served with chips (frozen) & dressed salad. The Parma was very good. Well cooked, crispy with just the right amount of topping. My fellow diners also enjoyed their meals. $33.50 with a glass of Pinot. The service was good with the right amount of attention. Would recommend if you're looking for good pub food. Monday night "steak night". I'd already seen three other tables send their steaks back to the kitchen for being undercooked. Seeing this I ordered mine Medium hoping Chef would compensate and I'd get a medium rare. No such luck as the photo testifies. Why bother getting staff ask how you want you steak cooked when they all come out RARE. Fair enough it's $15 but if you don't know how to cook something don't bother putting it on the menu. At least the beans weren't overlooked either. 1/5 stars.
Arrived at 6:30pm for dinner and the dinning area was less that half full yet it took us 15 minutes to get the waitresses attention to get a drink and menus. I ordered a chardonnay and they delivered a Sauv Blanc and the waitress challenged me but eventually, I got the right wine. We ordered pizzas and at best they looked like and didn't taste much better than a frozen pizza from the supermarket.
Went for lunch with a party of 5. Our food was good pub fare but the bar service was very slow and uninspiring. They stuffed up our orders too. The atmosphere though is first class with a great outdoor eating area. Beer was good and prices ok. Réservez une table maintenant
