On July 4th, 2024, we started our meal with split onion rings and a hot dog as an appetizer. The rings were crispy and the hot dog had a satisfying snap. For our main dishes, we ordered corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, as well as potato pancakes. The sandwiches were delicious, but they were not overly stuffed. I will say that I had REALLY high expectations. We had matzo ball soup, hot pastrami sandwiches, square knish, rugelach and linzer cookies. The hot pastrami was definitely the star of all the things we tried. It had a good amount of meat, the bread was fresh, with great flavor. Unfortunately the knish was the worst, as the outside dough was not fully cooked, and still raw. The potato inside was delicious though. Talking to a friend, I learned that they had the same experience here. The rugelach didn't give the impression of being fresh baked, but just tasted like soemthing I might buy from a supermarket. I haven't been to a Ben's in a long time so this visit was nostalgic as well. They are in big lot with other businesses so there's shared parking but plenty of it. It's a revolving door to get in, which is awesome, and you can order stuff from the counter to go right away or walk in a little bit further to eat in. There's a huge menu as well above the counter so you can get a sneak peek before you get the menu at the table. We were seated promptly with menus, water, pickles and coleslaw. I went to Ben's Kosher Deli for dinner with a Jewish colleague and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The salad I ordered was fresh, crisp, and had a perfect balance of ingredients. The vegetables were fresh and the toppings were generous without overpowering the flavors. The real highlight of my meal was the kreplach, a dish I had never tried before. These dumplings were comforting, delicious, and something I would definitely order again. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. The food is decent, not terrible, but the prices are unreasonably high for the portions. On an island where competition usually keeps prices in check, I'm confused by Ben's pricing. I won't be coming back because I don't want to take out a loan just to have lunch. The service is average at best. The cashiers barely acknowledge or speak to you, and they seem to have an attitude problem. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant as there are many better options within a five-mile radius.
Bens to the rescue! I had my kids pre bar and bat Mitzvah dinner for 20 last month. timing had to be perfect as sundown was approaching. people were in from Canada, north Carolina, Arizona and Florida. there were a few non bread eaters too. the menu gila created was a huge hit. A nice touch and I would recommend this to all.. get your sandwich on a challah roll. thank you bens for starting our simcha weekend off with a great meal.
We have been going here for years and I have NEVER been disappointed. I live in Woodstock, NY so I don't get down here that often. I don't eat red meat all that much but when I visit Ben's, hot pastrami is a must. It is practically a religious experience. The chopped liver, the roast beef, the chocolate babka: all great. Service was quick and friendly. I can't recommend Ben's enough!
Enjoyed dinner at Ben's! Started off with onion rings and stuffed derma. Both great. We also ordered a turkey dinner, 1/2 chicken, breaded chicken cutlets, kasha and FF. All very good. Can't forget the Dr. Browns sodas. Service was quick with that northern attitude. . The decor and ambiance was very fitting for a NY deli. Ya ready to order yet? A must try!!!

The food was terrible today. We bought stuffed cabbage and it had no red sauce and the cabbage was not cooked enough. The cole slaw had no taste and I had to add lemon and sugar to it to make it palatable. Sorry Ben's but you lost a customer today.
You always know what you're getting at Bens. I think the prices are a little high. Specially for the kids meals. But their fries are the best around. And their meats are very good.
