We drove right by twice as the restaurant/take-out looks like a regular house sitting on the side of the road. I'm glad we persevered as we had one of the best meals of the trip here. The scallops (10) were perfect, lightly battered and fried just to done, not over or under cooked. The fries were a deep golden brown, slightly greasy. The Philly Steak had plentiful meat and was very good. Fast service & meals were served hot. A varied menu at reasonable prices. It is mainly a take-out with a small seating area for approx. 12 people. It closes at 7 pm...they were taking in the open flag when we stopped on our return from NL. Bettes Kitchen is hands down my favorite place to eat. The atmosphere gives off a nostalgic 50's/60's diner vibe, and the portions are large and tasty. The customer service is top-notch, making it a quick and easy stop for lunch with a diverse menu to choose from. It's perfect for a meal on the go. The only downside is that they don't accept debit or credit cards, only cash, which may catch some first-time customers off guard. However, it's definitely worth stopping by an ATM to withdraw some cash for the experience.

We visited twice during our short stay in North Sydney. Both the scallops and fish and chips were delicious. French fries are hand-cut and cooked to perfection. Scallops were sweet and tender and plenty of them on the plate. Although the dining room is small, it is very clean and pleasantly decorated. I can't praise the service enough. Quick, friendly and very attentive. Washroom was immaculately clean. This is the best place we encountered in all of Cape Breton.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The last time I visited, I ordered the fish and chips - the portion was huge, with perfectly cooked haddock loins. It was absolutely delicious. I've also tried the burgers here and they were amazing. The salads are also generous in size. I highly recommend this cozy spot for lunch or dinner. This used to be a chip truck and they created a restaurant from it. It's small but not claustrophobic and they have great take out. The food is all fresh and home cooked. Great place to visit and eat.

Seniors meal was perfect. Homemade beans with bacon, fishcake was crispy on the outside and delightfully soft on the inside.
