TL;DR: Truly honest-to-goodness southern fare, that is focused a lot on the meats and having a good time. The craft here comes from so much practice, and travels around North America to truly know what makes this kind of fare tick when it is eaten. With a high level of friendly service, a relaxed and causal environment, and the ability to waltz on in, this is already a winner in my book. After such a long and hectic renovation, one of the major lanes in Brisbane's inner area has been transformed very well. Fish Lane has stood there somewhat desolate all these years, and much in the vein of Melbourne's lane ways we now have a vibrant and relaxed little community just a bit outside West End...

We Canadians just couldn't resist the call of poutine. Unfortunately, we picked the busiest night of the year during the Fish Lane Festival and the place was packed and very loud. So we ordered takeaway full rack pork ribs, green beans, and the obligatory poutine. The quality and quantity were worthy of the $42 we paid for everything. Everything was good but being the poutine snobs we are the chips were a bit soggy. But we'll be back when they are not so busy to resample. Take two. May 22. Stopped for the pulled pork burger and garlic beans. Scrumptious and healthy size options. Great service!!! Bumped the rating up to 5.
Came here for lunch with friends and ordered some of the best American style eats in Brisbane, which is a big call considering how many American barbecue and burger joints continue to pop up in this city. Service was great - our drinks were topped up, we were offered more sauces and a friend received a free drink for her birthday. Meals are well priced and delicious. The marinade on everything was just right and the choice of sides were a big plus too.
