We have a group of us meeting up once a month - 2 months sampling the top 10 Steak Restaurants in Sydney. Working through these is a treat and exceptional experience in the main.So for the Black Bar and Grill I have held off a little while as I wrote a first draft and it was not very flattering due to my experience. The menu options are exactly as expected for a Top notch Steak Restaurant. Great cuts of meat and various quality / marbling options. Costs are high end however if delivering on the experience then you would expect to pay for the privilege and leave satisfied. Delivering on the promise: Not so much. Normally my partner & I have a pretty low opinion of customer service in the Australian hospitality sector. The best examples of service at restaurants of this calibre in Australia have been tolerable at best rather than memorable or shareable. I'm thrilled to report that this restaurant stands out amongst its peers and is a textbook example of what excellent customer service should be about - overly attentive, personable yet not too familiar, always anticipating a customer's needs with precision, and a great staff presence throughout all customer touchpoints. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with our friends and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The entree of scallops from the special truffle menu was amazing. Four of us shared the 1kg rib eye with three sides of puree potato, broccolini and mushroom ragout (amazing little pie) and a main of the handmade semolina gnocchi - very generous servings. We decided to order one creme brulee and the waitress kindly brought us four dessert spoons - she obviously knew how good this dessert is! We walked in as soon as the restaurant opened, without a reservation, we were lucky enough to get a window table. All the staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable. Our waitress was lovely and helped us navigate the exciting menu. *** The food *** was spectacular. Everything we ate had my eyes rolling a little into the back of my head. Night on the town with my partner, no bookings, just looking for a place to eat.Came across Black Bar and Grill by pure chance. Not read reviews or even knew the place existed.We had a great meal with a bottle of Dom along with excellent service by staff.Very much impressed and will come back next time for "a night on the town".
This is our 3rd visit for the champagne lunch on the weekend and absolutely loved it again. Atmosphere, service and the food were all excellent. Oysters were again so fresh & delicious. Mains were all great, especially the steak, strip loin wagyu, best steak ever (my son's words). Will definitely be back & highly recommend.
We visit Black every time we are in Sydney, normally once or twice a month. The quality of food never disappoints and the staff is exceptional. Very good Sommelier who can recommend a wine we would not normally try and we are pleasantly surprised every time. Great restaurant.
There are many great restaurants at The Star - if you don't like casinos, still take a trip to Black for a wonderful dining experience. Its a great location, much like The Rockpool at Crown Melbourne, with very good food and wine - an experience. Réservez une table maintenant
