I was just treated to a late lunch at the Black Walnut Bakery Cafe in Wortley Village, London, Ontario. It was my first visit and definitely will not be my last! It offers an amazing menu with delicious soups, salads, sandwiches served on yummy freshly baked whole wheat bread, quiche and a huge array of baked goods, fair trade coffees, tea, lattes.....just about anything you can wish for.I was amazed at the choices for a small cafe. The menu is written on black boards behind the counter. The staff were very patient and welcoming as I pondered my options. I ordered a turkey Swiss sandwich served on thick whole wheat bread. It had sliced tomato in the sandwich, the turkey was thinly sliced but...

I'm new to London and was hoping to find a nice cafe to spend time in. This location is exactly the vibe I was looking for. It's a cute little space with lots of corner seating and relaxing lighting. The staff was friendly and always greet me when I walk in. My favorite tables are in the middle of the cafe where there is a large window and a cute little fireplace to enjoy. The soups and quiches are a delicious and perfect option if you have trouble swallowing or chewing and are a bit soft (from dental work, etc.) It's in a beautiful quaint neighborhood with little shops and live music nearby. The other location on Richmond has an even broader selection on the menu and is more modern and open...

Stayed in London for the CCMA and after two days suffering terrible food and coffee downtown I took a long walk all the way out to Wortley which is a world apart. Friendly village atmosphere, mouth watering range of pastries and probably the best coffee I've had in Canada and on par with my favourites in Australia. Deep rich Espresso and Macciato. I liked it so much here I brought my g/f the following morning and we had soup and more pastries. Pie of the day was a gingerbread pie with outstanding texture and flavour to the crust. Not usually a fan of long milk based coffee's but the beans here really cut through the gingerbread syrup in her coffee in a way I haven't experienced before.

It's always a delightful experience here. It's been a while since my last visit. I had their chat latte with soy and their butter rugs? right on point with sugar....not overly sweet....
