I am from Kirchentellinsfurt which is closed to Tübingen and this month it has been the first time that I was in that pub because someone told me "it's cool and an institution". The Boulanger is one of the Tübinger pubs you must have seen. It still brings the Tübingen Old Town to the point. Around the corner from the hotel, at Collegiumgasse 2, we found the gem of the Gaststätte Boulanger, a typical student hangout where you bring your own snack and order drinks. Since 1782, Boulanger had it's fair clientele of Hegel, Schelling and Hölderlin and what it lacks in luxury it owns in matter of poetry.
Probably the coolest little bar in Tubingen, really friendly owner, staff and patrons... Definitely the best place in Tubingen for Whiskey and Guinness! If you go there on a Sunday night you will usually find a live band playing.
