The food was just okay, but I was really put off by the view into the kitchen from the front. Having worked in bars and restaurants for over a decade, I found it quite dirty. I observed a young cook using the same cloth to wipe down his work surface as well as the knife he'd just used. During COVID, it would have been reassuring to see them actually wash their hands. Plus, the woman at the front didn’t even sanitize her hands before grabbing our takeout forks, so we decided not to take them. We all agreed that if we hadn’t already paid for our food, we would have left. We won't be returning, as there are plenty of lovely little places to eat in Prince Edward County.
From the moment we walked in, we felt like an inconvenience. The woman at the front repeatedly mentioned that she was the only staff member available, and she didn’t seem pleased to serve us. She barely wore a mask, didn’t use sanitizer, and didn’t wash her hands before handing me a straw without a wrapper. Throughout our entire meal, there were no polite gestures like "please," "thank you," or "you're welcome." I understand that being short-staffed can be challenging, but a smile or a little kindness would have made a huge difference. To make matters worse, the food was just mediocre. Overall, we were disappointed with our experience and won't be coming back.
