I went to Cactus Jacks Mackay with three of my children on a day out to Mackay. We were seated in a table as the booths were full which is fine and we later moved to a booth when one was free. We waited for about 5 minutes before the waitress taking orders noticed us and said "I will be with you in a minute". After another 7 minutes whilst watching the waitress polish cutlery, laugh and chat with the kitchen staff I debated whether to walk out or bring her attention back to us. I am a Cactus Jacks fan but was bitterly disappointed last night. Took a work colleague and was advised as we ordered our meals that they had run out of ice cream on Monday night and would not have any until Friday. Please note according to maps the distance to Coles is 290 metres, and they had ice cream. I asked if I could go buy some ice cream from Coles and bring it back and was advised that our waitress would check with the kitchen, but she never returned. Cactus I am a huge fan, but if you are unable to solve problems without advising patrons of your supplier issues then there is a larger problem that needs addressing. This restaurant experience was disappointing. We waited 10 minutes for a table, only to be told to sit anywhere and then find out that the seat was reserved with no signage. There were too many staff members seemingly doing nothing, including the bar staff. We had to ask for our drinks multiple times and the food was not good - the steak was overcooked and the sides were dry and unappetizing. We had to go back to the bar to get another drink and, despite requesting no beans, my Sister's meal still came with beans. We had to ask for cutlery multiple times and our food ended up getting cold. Overall, it was a terrible experience and I would not recommend wasting your money here.
Unfortunately I've only recently been here not big on mexican type food. But whilst looking for somewhere low key and cheap for lunch noticed their menu. We both had the lunch steak burger with fries. It was delicious especially because the steak was cooked medium. Yeah I know that wasn't mexican. The staff were brilliant. I asked if they had post mix as I always have my softdrinks diluted with soda water unfortunately machine was broken but waitress said no prob I'll go into main bar to get it for you. So had a great lunch and brilliant service and didn't cost anymore than a takeaway. Brilliant

We had dinner here on Anzac day, went for the all you can eat chilli, unfortunately it was served cold, twice! On the third attempt it was hot enough to eat, and pleasant enough but no real chilli heat. Management handled our complaint well and did not charge for the food. This was our first and will be our last visit to this food chain.
We sat down and waited for 25 minutes without anyone taking our drink order or acknowledging us. The restaurant wasn't busy, but it seemed to be staffed with young girls who weren't attentive. After getting up to look around, we still received no service. It was the worst service I have ever experienced. I would give them 0 stars.
I checked the menu for GF items before being seated. When I asked about several items I was told they were not actually GF and that the menus were misprinted? All they could offer was meat with tomato sauce and some salad. The Food I couldn't eat looked fine however.
I ordered the beef ribs, but they arrived cold. After waiting another 20 minutes for them to be cooked again, they came out nearly burnt and overdone. They were also very chewy. Not a great experience.

Food was terrible and inedible. Staff bar 1 were rude and aggressive. Waited 40 minutes for drinks that never arrived. Manager had worst customer service. Will not be back.
Service was ok. Food was amazing. Tasty and we could share. Big serves too. Drinks and cocktails yum and cold. We booked a table in advance and it was all set up
