I visited here with two others, we couldn't decide what to have so we ordered a bunch of things and shared, which was a great idea cuz we got to try TONS: enchiladas, tacos, we got one meal that was a whole selection in itself and then we had the riollas,(SP?) that was the stuffed the peppers, and they were yummy. When we went the payment machine was not working and I did not have any cash, the other two only had $20 each. Because the machine was broken the owner said don't worry about it' when I asked him how I was to pay the balance. How sweet is that! Stopped in on a business trip with a fellow employee and we weren't disappointed. I had the Plato Combinado with a chili relleno, a chicken enchilada, a bean burrito and chicken. Everything was delicious. The sauces were amazing. I'm not sure what the sauce was on the chicken, but it was really good.The restaurant has a very simple décor, though brightly coloured decorations are everywhere. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. Our orders were taken quickly and the food arrived surprisingly quickly as well.I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone trying to find delicious authentic Mexican food. Just wish we had a restaurant like this back home.
We eat here regularly because the quality is consistently high although it is true that the food is not very spicy. Upon arrival, there is a bowl of fresh salsa and tortilla chips, gratis, on the table. The Margaritas are excellent. The menu is varied with some vegetarian options. All the food is prepared in house by the owners. I have eaten most of what is on the menu. The soups, in particular, are very nice. Portions are generous. There are not a lot of desserts, consistent with South American tastes. The atmosphere is dark with lots of colourful posters. This is a locally owned and operated restaurant with great food and service.
This restaurant was disappointing and overpriced. We were not happy with our experience. They only accept cash, no credit cards. The food was not good - the tortillas were not homemade and the Chile Rellenos had processed cheese. We paid $21 for this. The chicken rice soup was small and cost $12.95, and a Corona beer was $9. We couldn't believe this place wasn't packed. The food is so good. We tried the tortilla soup (excellent but so hot temperature wise,) quesadillas, and fajitas- all delicious and huge portions. They came with rice, refried beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. I'd eat here again!
Unimpressed. Would not eat here again. Food was bland. Refried beans were too liquidy and rice was old, dried out and clumpy. Tacos fell apart when we tried to eat them and the filling was so skimpy. Service was slow and unfriendly. Waste of money and our time in Cranbrook.
