Such a great spot on Toorak Road! We dined here last night and had such a great time we ended up coming back for dessert a few hours later. <br/ <br/ For dinner, we had the n 'duja burrat, zucchini flowers (a special), the rabbit ragu psata and the ricotta ravioli, and shared the tiramisu for dessert. The rabbit ragu was absolutely delicious, with the truffle pecorino really elevating the dish and making it one of the best pastas I 've had in a while! The ricotta ravioli was nice and light, complementing the heavier rabbit ragu pasta well. I also tried the lavender spritz and the raspberry sloe gin fizz. Both were interesting and refreshing, with the lavender being a good 'different ' drink...
We visited this place on a cold wet night and were greeted by lovely staff. We sat at the back, and ordered some drinks. <br/ <br/ We enjoyed some of their starters with the burrata which was fantastic, highly recommend. Also, we had the crocchettes with taleggio cheese and leek. <br/ <br/ Unfortunately they did not have the Tagliatelle pasta but they had replaced that menu item with some truffle oil pasta which was served like a carbonara (no cream though). It was very nice, simple but still tasty. <br/ <br/ Then we finished the night with the tiramisu which was in a sphere, and we cracked open to enjoy their take on a tiramisu.
The ambience and feel of the place is quite typical of today. Nice set up. Something some might struggle with is proximity of other tables. Once you start dining it is quickly forgotten; I ordered a main of duck ravioli in Cauliflower and grapes. It has been a great while..... Exceptional !!!! A real highlight dish. I also hah some bread with shredded meat and cheese. It reminded me of smoked meat. To be honest I couldn’t stop thinking about the duck. Compliments to the chef. Score, well deserved
This restaurant is a wonderful place to relax outside with a glass of wine and enjoy the sunshine, when Melbourne actually has some. I visited yesterday on a hot day and ordered some olives and a dry white wine. The service was excellent. The crowd that frequents this place is very specific, but as a local, I often stop by for a quick drink and snack. Next time, I will dine in for a full meal. The interior is cozy, but I prefer the outdoor side tables. Overall, it's a great bar. Réservez une table maintenant
I went here for a lunch with colleagues upon arriving we realized there wasn’t much on the menu for me as I am vegan. We spoke to the lovely wait staff who organized variations of a few of the dishes without any hesitation. The tempura veggies were heavenly, although slightly oily. The pasta was to die for. I had the nettle tagliatelle with mushroom and walnut ragu. The pasta melted in my mouth. Would highly recommend this place!!
The same people behind Il Bacaro and Sarti have opened Bar Carolina, a more lively and fun restaurant. On a Wednesday evening, the place was bustling with stylish patrons carrying designer handbags and sporting plastic surgery. We had booked a table for my friend's birthday at 8pm, but true to Italian fashion, others were just arriving and starting their meals over an hour later.
We went to this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The portion sizes were generous and our favorite dish was the shrimp spaghetti, it was delicious! The scampi was also tasty, but a bit expensive since you only get one for two people. The only issue we had was when we asked the waitress if we had ordered too much food for two people, she said it was clearly too much food.
The service was outstanding, the food was flawless, and the atmosphere was wonderful. However, sitting near the kitchen with the noise of dishes being washed was not the most romantic experience for Valentine's evening. Despite this, the overall experience was fantastic. I will definitely return soon to try the a la carte menu. Réservez une table maintenant
