The customer service was excellent and the ambiance was comfortable, but unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations. The bacon tasted like processed, dry beef, which really isn't bacon at all. To make matters worse, they didn't offer any fish or chicken on the menu. For a breakfast spot that’s highly praised, I'm starting to wonder about the taste preferences of some diners. The grits were unappetizing and lacked flavor—more like chalk than creamy or buttery. On a positive note, the toast was quite good!
Charlie’s has always been consistent and has never let me down. They accept cash only, but whenever I'm in the area, this is my top choice. I’ve only tried their breakfast, but I’m confident that the other meals are just as delicious. The customer service is also great.
Charlies is the most decent place in East Orange. They serve breakfast til about 2pm or a little after. They close at 2:30 not 2:40pm. Have items like waffle, pancake, french toast, grits, eggs, different types of bacon and sausage
I found a hair in my food, which I thought was really gross. The ingredients were subpar—cheap bacon and low-quality pancake mix—and you can really taste the difference. Food rating: 1/5.

Best breakfast you can get for under $10.00. Everything on the breakfast side is good. Never had any of the lunch items.
Food price has increased but the food amount hasn’t. The food is good though and the wait is short
