City Tavern Victor

If I could give less than one star I absolutely would. This was close to our hotel, therefore the most logical option to take the kids to after a long day. We had not a problem waiting the 45 minutes for a table on a wedsday night and just sat at our hotel lobby for the wait. Once we were seated the true joy began. Our waitress didn't even approach our table of two adults and a young 1.5 year old and 6 year old until after 25 minutes of being seated. I'm all for needing a break but 25 minutes of nothing and our table is approached by a woman smelling of a freshly smoked Seneca, cool, strike one on the long wait. This establishment is the perfect place for a work traveler staying at the Hampton across the street. I've spent many nights back in the spring and summer where I tried a variety of dishes in several spots throughout the space. Now that I'm visiting again, I'm disappointed that the kitchen is closing at 7:30p which hasn't allowed me to come back for dinner. Came here for an early dinner or was it a late lunch? The menu is very nice and has many options to select from which I am certain you will find something to your liking. There are so many options that it could be paralyzing to find that right menu option. We ordered a few things of the menu and one commented on the double crisp french fries. They looked amazing and my friend did not want to share them really good. The cobb salad was wonderful with the sherry vinaigrette. I spent the night in Victor, and this restaurant was recommended to me. I visited on February 7, 2023, and ordered a takeout meal that included a Ribeye steak, mashed potatoes, and Brussels sprouts. The steak was enormous, but unfortunately, it was completely lacking in flavor. The entire meal had water in the takeout container, which I believe came from the un-drained Brussels sprouts. After trying a few bites, I considered returning the meal, but ultimately decided against it. Instead, I tossed the food and went to Moe's, where I had an excellent dinner. I was pleasantly surprised for my second visit here. It always helps to try a restaurant more than once in case there was a chance your first experience that was not up to par was just a fluke. We were greeted with a friendly hello and seated immediately. Our waitress Mariah was great! She promptly brought us waters and got our orders in right away. Very efficient, and I was impressed with her. The food came out quickly and made to order. Everything was delicious. Would recommend to anyone in the area visiting or living in the Rochester area.

We have ordered delivery from City Tavern twice recently, both times we really enjoyed our meals! My husband usually orders one of the burgers which are very good, and the reuben sandwich is amazing! Also they have VERY good fries!! We recently tried the mac cheese, it was just OK. Both times we ordered, our food arrived hot and fresh. We are hoping to visit to dine-in at City Tavern soon!!

Went on a Tuesday night. Waited over an hour and still no food. Management running around with no clue what's going on. Other patrons complaining. So dis-oriented. I would stay away at all costs until they get themselves back on track.

I recently bought a gift card for this restaurant, but they suddenly closed down and are refusing to refund the card. What if I went into their establishment and refused to pay my bill? I'm sure that wouldn't be accepted either. Réservez une table maintenant

On the downside, both the Rajun Cajun sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich were quite basic, resembling something you could easily whip up at home. Additionally, they were lacking in seasoning.

Good service and good food. Had a great waitstaff. Ordered the meatballs and bruschetta. Enough garlic in the bruschetta to keep away all vampires.
