Upon entering around 1:00 PM, I noticed the place was eerily quiet, which seemed like a bad sign. The server attempted to seat me right next to the kitchen, an offer I declined, opting for a different table instead. Although some elements of St. Patrick's Day were present, the overall atmosphere felt off, almost as if they were reluctant to celebrate. In one corner, there was a plastic container filled with leftover St. Patrick's Day items—beaded necklaces, flashing necklaces, margarita glasses, and beer mugs—all crammed together and unkempt. Customers were told to dig through the mess and take something, but only a couple of patrons took the time to sort through the jumble to make it look a...
I visited the restaurant today for corned beef and cabbage. Unfortunately, the potatoes and carrots weren’t cooked at all, and when our meal finally arrived, there was no cabbage. The waitress did bring us a bowl of cabbage afterward, but the overall experience felt disorganized, which is disappointing for what should be a fun day. The potatoes and carrots were so hard that we couldn’t eat them. Despite this, I would be willing to return and try something else, hoping they might get it right next time.
It may be a bit late, but this will always hold a special place in my heart as a missed opportunity for my family and me. We wish we had discovered this wonderful Essex gem sooner after moving here, especially since we can't enjoy many more meals as a family. Cody's is a true family-friendly restaurant, offering delicious food at affordable prices, exceptional service, and a fantastic selection of music playing softly in the background. I had a salad with apples and pecans. The balsamic vinegarette was good with the salad. The ingredients were all fresh and crunchy. I also had a Guinness that was well poured with a perfect head on it (nitrogen, not carbonate). There was plenty of free parking right out front.
