I am a regular at the fish markets and I only eat at this café. Sure, they serve it on a plastic plate but eating at the fish markets in general isn't fine dining. The mrs usually orders half a dozen oysters then shares my fish and chips. For around 30 bucks we can get 6 oysters, two pieces of grilled John Dory, calamari, chips, side salad and 2 cans of soft drink. They also serve beer and wine if that's your preference. All the food is excellent and cooked upon ordering. I am not an oyster lover but the mrs says they have an excellent range to choose from and they are fresh. I can recommend having a feed here if you want great fish and chips for a decent price and a table to sit at.

At first I didn’t get it. Deep is the first place you come to, when you walk from the tram, but it’s the emptiest. Lots of free tables. I tried to order some hot seafood from the counter but it was like I was invisible. Looking back, I think they were so surprised to see anyone that they couldn’t move. I gave up waiting and went over to the refrigerated counters where they shuck the oysters. Flies were inside the cabinet and landing on the oysters….that would be eaten raw. I went down to the main market building. There are heaps of problems down there but at least flies wasn’t one of them. I’ve been to Deep many times in the past. It wasn’t like that. What’s happened here?

This is the very first cafe you see at the fish market. It's outside the main building just off the road and, when we arrived, looked empty. We just wanted a quick lunch so decided to give it a go. I can only think it's empty because most people decide to go further in and see whast else is available. We both had the char grilled octopus and it was excellent. Reasonably priced too. Service was fairly quick, especially given that it was cooked to order. Give it a go. Worthwhile.

Last working day of the year so the team decided to bunk off early (and by early I mean lunchtime) and head to the fish markets for a seafood lunch to round

Wow, we had the lobster seafood platter for two. Between the two of us it was so huge I reckon we couldn't get through two thirds. Absolutely beautiful Réservez une table maintenant
