Visited with work colleagues, and we all tried different dishes based on the lunch special, which is a meal, rice and drink for $11 or $12 - reasonable value for a decent feed I thought.The choices are a little sparse if your looking for vegetarian, gluten free, etc, etc, and when the dish says hot chilli, believe it. I had the beef rendang which was very tasty. I'd say the pick of our table was the Gado Gado, albeit simple.It is far from a restaurant though - closer to a cafe in all respects, but the staff where nice enough and for a lunch break that is often all you want.I'd certainly go back.
There are several Indonesian Restaurants in Melbourne, and this one is on my top 3 list. I love their Ayam Cabai Hijau (Fried Chicken with Green Chili) and their Gado Gado (well.. It's Indonesian Salad, with peanut sauce). Too bad it's kind of expensive for that portion (10$ for one chicken and small portion of rice? Come on..) and the place is quite weird. Is this a restaurant or a cafe?
A little Indonesian restaurant just off Clarendon Street. The chicken dish on the menu is very good and you have the option to go for fried or grilled, as well as the degree of chilly hotness. Good value and I make it a point to have at least 1-2 meals there when I am in Melbourne.Nothing fancy about the decor and staff are friendly.
