I was celebrating a double birthday with some friends who had never been here before. It was an explosion of different tastes and flavours that were perfectly married together....Walter and his team at their best! The dishes were perfectly presented. One of guests had special dietary requirements, which were managed on the fly by the team. I have to compliment the service team who did an exceptional job, discreetly available whenever you needed them.
Friends suggested to go to restaurant Gupf for dinner and stay the night there we had never been. I can only say it was one of the best dinners I have had ever! Every course of our menu was delicious and different, the service excellent, friendly and attentive and the wine cellar out of this world! The setting a spectacular piece of Switzerland. We have booked again and I already look forward to it.
Hier stimmt einfach alles. Wunderbares Essen, äusserst herzliche und kompetente Bedienung, die Lage ist wunderbar. Trotz der Sterneküche fühlt man sich sehr wohl und gut aufgehoben (insbesondere durch die Gastgeber Manuela und Walter Klose), ganz wie in einer Familie. Ich bin jedesmal mehr als glücklich hier sein zu dürfen.
Food and wine cellar are five stars. Service is deceptive. They try hard to not let you see the menu and offer lots of free surprises then they offer you things you think are free but they charge huge cost for them. Be careful. Ended up with a splash of schnapps at the end and the tablespoon of liquor was CHF29 each!
The Gupf is one of the few places which are a must to visit. The dishes were just fantastic again. The wind cellar -well, you must see it to believe it. For me the Gupf is one of the best restaurants in Switzerland. It is for sure in the top 20. Reservations required.
