Stopped by on our way to the Ultimate Picture Palace for a waffle and ice cream. They had a wide range of very unique flavours. The staff was really accommodating and attentive and she even let us try out flavours when we were making up our minds. We got 2 flavours, the DAIM Super Chocolate on a waffle with toppings. The super chocolate was really rich and thick, and the portion was enough without making you feel sick while the DAIM had crunch to it. Slightly disappointing was the waffle which felt undercooked, had more of a floury doughy texture than crispy. Topped with melting ice-cream, it felt like wet bread that ruined the dish than a companion to the ice cream. Additionally, when taking our utensils, we noticed that they were not cleaned very thoroughly, some food particles from previous patrons were still on the fork, and the other knives and forks had (what I hope to be) water spot stains. Overall, great flavours, but could improve on the other factors.

Tried to go in yesterday for ice cream and a coffee after a meal out, we were only going for something to eat so left out masks in the car a mile up cowley road and decided to go for dessert at the last minute however they wouldn’t let us walk through the two steps to the seating area without a mask and were really rude to us at the door. Neither of us are disrespectful in anyway and nor do we intend or try to break the rules no one in the seating area had a mask on as it is a cafe. We could have been people who couldn’t wear a mask for health reasons but instead were just treated like lepers. We are frequent customers of g and d’s and even had them at our wedding but really disappointed they couldn’t be a bit more reasonable. We would have still been more then two metres from the counter and there were no customers in the take away area. It was definitely not the crime of the century.

I visited for a coffee and a bagel while I did a bit of work/ reading. I was in the coffee shop for about 20 mins before a member of staff asked me if I was going to be much longer, as they needed the table. I hadn’t finished my bagel, neither my coffee. I understand during COVID-19 that they don’t want people in their for vast amount of time, but no one else was asked if they were nearly finished, or for their table. What is more disappointing is that everyone else in the coffee shop had been in longer than me, and had finished their food and drinks.

Reasonably priced, delicious bagels and ice cream. They're always happy to make adjustments to bagels for vegetarians. It's become my go to place on Cowley Road.
