This restaurant is incredible and definitely worth the drive. It has the best BBQ I've ever had, and I'm quite passionate about it. The ribs were perfect, the pulled pork was fantastic, and the turkey was my favorite dish. It was juicy and not at all dry, and the seasoning was absolutely delicious. We visited on a weekday for lunch because weekends and dinner times can get extremely crowded. I'd love to come back when it's busy and enjoy some live music from their stage. The general manager was wonderful and gave us a tour of the smoke pit, which is supposedly the largest in California. If you're a BBQ lover and you're in the San Diego area, you absolutely must check this place out.
The sides also lacked flavor; the beans looked like they came from a can, the fries were mediocre, the mac and cheese tasted processed, and the potato salad was far from impressive—I've had better from a grocery store food court. We also ordered a sausage sandwich and a brisket sandwich; meanwhile, my ribs were just two tiny pieces for $34, again dry and bland. To put it in perspective, Phil's BBQ offers a larger, tastier beef rib for under $10, and it includes sides like coleslaw and onion rings, making it much more filling. I definitely won’t be returning here; I really don’t understand what all the hype is about. Thank you, but this was a disappointing experience.
What an excellent BBQ place! The brisket had a wonderful crust and you could really tell that it was carefully prepared and smoked. It was incredibly juicy, and the flavor of salt, pepper, and smokiness really came through in the bark. The tri-tip was also smoked to perfection, both cuts had beautiful smoke rings. They offered two kinds of BBQ sauce: spicy and mild, but honestly, the food was so flavorful that it didn’t even need any sauce. The fries were just standard fries—hard to go wrong with those. The service was fantastic as well. I’ll definitely be returning!
If you're a fan of BBQ, you'll absolutely love this spot. I ordered the tri-tip along with sausage and a side of mac and cheese, while my boyfriend chose the tri-tip sandwich with fries. The food was packed with flavor and very satisfying. The pickles were also a delightful addition. I really enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere. Our server was attentive and provided excellent service. Their North Park location has been one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego since it opened. They serve top-notch Central Texas BBQ, and the experience is truly unique. I usually order a quarter pound of brisket, pulled pork, and Texas turkey, and there's nothing better! I highly recommend it.
I absolutely love this place; it serves the best BBQ in San Diego, without a doubt. Make sure to arrive early, as they frequently sell out. It's a fantastic location for large groups, and being kid-friendly is always a bonus. The service is fast, and the food never fails to impress.
