Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken

I stopped going to the Detroit location because 2x I received burnt tasting chicken. I decided to try the location in Royal Oak, MI. I was not disappointed! The chicken was piping hot, golden brown, crispy, juicy and scrumptious! Also the baked beans were thick and delicious (loose and runny in Detroit). This was my first time trying the mac cheese and it was also very good. Customer service is always good, at both locations! I did not give it five stars because they only serve spicy chicken. *I had just left a funeral and the tall bald man in the kitchen must have sensed something... kindness goes a long way... Thank you for your attention to detail.

Juicy, tender chicken. Chicken is lightly battered. It has a touch of heat that even my delicate mouth liked. I was surprised at the juiciness for being a tender. Partners full chicken was equally juicy and tender. Fried pickles and green tomatoes have a crunchier cornmeal breading that is very good. Staff was friendly and fast. Thomas made this first visit shine! Such a nice man. CLEAN and all employees wearing masks! Tables are spread apart for social distancing and I felt very secure eating here. Also pie! Chess pie to die for!

Great chicken. Very tender and juicy. When the lady said spicy, oooh she was so right! It has a nice slow burn to it. The greens were fantastic! The potato salad was good and the beans were sweet, juicy and tender, too. Very good!

I had a need for chicken and stumbled upon Gus. Outstanding fried chicken and the sides just like mama 's. Somebody 'put their foot in this '. Totally delicious.
