This pub is the oldest licensed hotel in Australia ... so our lovely waitress told us ... and it was fabulous. There are a variety of rooms over two stories of the hotel to eat in and we found ourselves up on the second floor. The place is wonderfully quirky, filled with antiques and all sorts of bits and bobs to entertain the eye. I popped my head into most of the rooms and the decore throughout was delightful.

Restaurant at Hope & Anchor was on our Entertainment card, so thought it worthwhile to check out. Downstairs was full, so we sat in one of the upstairs rooms, themed with horns and stag heads. With a window open and slight breeze, it made for a great space to dine, with only one other table occupied. While they dithered over menu choices, we ordered quickly and did not have to wait too long for our mains.
Mine was beef cheeks with red wine jus, mash, mixed greens & sweet potato chips on top. Lots of meat and greens, with just the right amount of jus. The meat was tender & tasty. My partner had a pork cutlet with apple on sweet potato mash and greens. A good sized serving and als...
Mauvais service et pas si sympathique personnel d'attente. Nous sommes venus à la page de restaurants et non à personne au comptoir avant dix minutes reconnues. Enfin, nous nous sommes assis sur le bar, avec une bien meilleure atmosphère avec de la musique live. Les pâtes de bœuf à bouillies lentes étaient délicieuses, mais ne valent pas la taille de la partie minuscule et le prix coûteux. Déçu d'avoir attendu une telle quantité de nourriture pendant 30 minutes, sinon la nourriture aurait été 5/5. C'est la première fois que j'ai encore un restaurant affamé.

On a recent trip to Hobart my partner and I had the pleasure of visiting Australia's 'oldest' pub which was luckily quite close to our hotel. The Hope and Anchor is a warm and welcoming old style pub with generous, good quality food. My steak was cooked perfectly, the wine list was decent and the staff were friendly. Live music on a Wednesday night was also a bonus. I would eagerly recommend this place to anyone in Hobart after a decent, no-nonsense counter meal in a cosy setting.
Visite à Hobart Je voulais faire l'expérience d'un repas dans le plus ancien pub sous licence de l'Australie (1807). Mon calamari était ok ... rien à écrire à la maison. Mais déçu mais déçu que le bar ait un vin de pomme Somersby sur le robinet et aucune tasse locale une. Le bar peut également devenir incroyablement fort et dur autour d'une table après 19h. Le téléviseur le ruinait pour moi - un musicien local joué, mais la télévision (avec footy) était derrière elle, un peu d'insulte!
Cela peut être un 1.0, mais nous ne resterons pas assez longtemps pour commander, alors qui sait comment la nourriture est bien. Ce que les rumeurs amateurs choquants ils étaient. Pour voir comment le.chaos doux était amusant jusqu'à ce que nous soyons avec notre petit garçon, sans être servi ou reconnu pendant 30 minutes. Aiguilles à dire, nous avons dû partir et obtenir du poisson et des copeaux du port du port.
Needed a quick lunch the other day so called in to the Hope & Anchor. They have several $10 meals which are great value. I went for the chicken burger which was really tasty and came with very crunchy chips. Not a bad range of beers and cider on tap. Free pool as well!

Un peu de votre jeu aujourd'hui. Burger tellement brûlé, ce n'est pas comestible. Nous ne devrions vraiment pas servir cela, cuisinez simplement une autre. Tout le reste va bien. Bel environnement.
Nice cold beer and good bar food. Quaint pub had an open fire going friendly staff. Nice place to spend an afternoon in Hobart
