I was blown away by the incredible quality of sukiyaki at Ima in New York. Unlike shabu shabu, sukiyaki is a delicious dish where thinly sliced wagyu beef is cooked in a sweet soy sauce. I was impressed by the top-notch quality of the beef, which was not frozen and expertly sliced. The Chef's Choice sukiyaki set left us feeling extremely satisfied, and the service was impeccable. Our server cooked and served our food, explaining each dish with great detail. While I wished there were more vegetables included in the meal, the dessert of matcha and ganache with homemade ice cream was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. Three slices of wagyu for $160. Yes, you're right. Only three slices. The meal is however pretty balanced, and the amount is enough but not 100% full for an adult. It still deserves 5 stars because of the services and authenticity (or 4.5 since it's little too pricy). Not to mention the taste or texture of the wagyu. The way they cooked the sukiyaki is exactly the same as the one my wife and I had in Tokyo, and the wagyu is just amazing! I'd recommend to try it once.
One of the best sukiyaki places in town. A5 Japanese wagyu. Don't think 6oz is not a lot. Just wait until you have 2 slices (3oz).
