I strongly recommend this restaurant to you as you would be hosted by the friendly Japanese waitress. Chef are Japanese too so they really know how the food should be done and presented to make you feel no differences than eating in local Japan restaurants....Dishes are delicious and fresh together with the causal but very Japanese feel decoration and atmosphere so that you can enjoy your dinner with friends just like in Japan. It's quite unusual to find a least expansive restaurants offers all the top Japanese sake and whisky. Again, great value too. $30 for a set dinner which also come in a good size for a hungry person. I ordered from this restaurant for the first time last night and the food was absolutely delicious. We tried the Agedashi Tofu, Karaage Squid Legs, and Miso Stir Fried Vegetables with steamed rice. The food arrived promptly at 7.43pm, just 19 minutes after ordering, and was piping hot. The squid legs were particularly outstanding, tender and served with mayo and salad. The tofu in a flavorful broth was also a hit, as were the miso stir fried vegetables. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be ordering from here again soon. It's also great value for the quality of the food.
We had hoped to snag an early table at the Greek Restaurant next door (should have booked), but not to be happily Izakaya Goku was right next door, and had tables free. The service was great, the food menu varied, and whilst the the...saki menu was extensive we did not avail ourselves. We relied on pricing to indicate portion size, and as a consequence ended up ordering far too much. The Tasmanian salmon was to die for, as was treating sushi and teriyaki chicken. So, necktie time we fancy Greek in Brisbane, we’ll happily opt for Izakaya.
Lunch specials at $15 offer a good selection. My wife and I had there udon/veg tempura and a full price wagyu beef bento box. Service was good...but.....the food quality left much to be desired. tempura was okay, but other items were not so good. Fried...fish in the bento box was hard, rubbery and smelly. The Wagyu beef (large portion) was anything but and was most like a cheap Chinese takeaway beef with heaps of glossy corn starch and no flavour. We won 't go back.

We stumbled across this gem of a japanese restaurant and were very impressed by the food. The restaurant was a little hole in the wall decorated with Japanese posters, serving great food and a selection of Japanese beers and spirits. Takeaway service available.

Good stuff… quick tasty good value. Fitted us in on a busy night with no reservation and everyone enjoyed it. Expected the food to be okay but it was definitely better than okay.
I tried the salmon lunch special and it was fantastic! I definitely look forward to returning. The ambiance inside the restaurant was also great.

The food is a little expensive but we only had some edamame and a few beers. Service was great and the atmosphere was pretty nice.
