After successfully finding a parking spot for my 24-foot Sprinter Winnebago motorhome (which was no easy task), Boomer and I made our way to the back patio. The lovely and attentive hostess quickly recognized my difficulty in walking and standing, and promptly seated me. She brought us chips and salsa while we enjoyed some fantastic music by Louie. And then, she served me one of the best hamburgers I've ever had! Kathy, you have a winning formula at this restaurant.
My group of 8 came to this restaurant after water sports and wanted a relaxed place to eat. The portion sizes were generous and the food was delicious. As the name suggests, their chili is excellent. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great, probably because of understaffing. However, if you have time to spare and just want to relax and eat, this place is a fantastic option! Food: 5/5
Love Bar J!! The staff is incredible, especially Mel. My Dad, myself and our dogs love to come here. She is literally the friendliest person ever and is so welcoming. We come here in hopes that she’ll be taking care of us. The chili here is incredible too. This isn’t just with us. I’ve been visiting here for years and the staff here is nothing short of AMAZING. I went for lunch mid week and there was only 1 server who was doing everything, waiting tables, handling check collecting, and trying to keep up with filling water glasses and getting to go boxes. It was not her fault at all. They are under staffed. The food was sub par. I hope they can regroup and become the Bar J they used to be. Their Cincinnati chili mac is the best! Absolutely delicious. I've been going to Bar J since it was in a shack on Rte 1, and it never disappoints. Big portions, yummy chips and salsa and a little much improved atmosphere in Occoquan. The service was slow, but the food was worth it! Service: Dine in Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5
I went to this restaurant on a Tuesday evening to celebrate my friend's birthday, and we had a fantastic time. We ordered the white pizza and the French fries with cheese, which were really delicious. The service was friendly and the servers were cute. We would have loved to hear some music on the patio where we were seated.
MEL was phenomenal!!! Chili recipes changed since I ate at Bar J years ago and I'm now allergic to it because of the green pepper. Mel went out of her way to apologize and remove it. I recently had breakfast at this restaurant and it was amazing. The price per person was between $20 and $30. The food was incredible, the service was great, and the atmosphere was perfect. I would highly recommend dining here. Réservez une table maintenant
I have been a customer at this restaurant since they were in Lorton, south Alexandria, and their old Woodbridge locations. The food was delicious but the portion was too large. I especially enjoy their Cincinnati chili.
