Lacklustre service. We really wanted to like this place as we love bakery food. However, we have tried it several times and always feel that we are left wanting. The food is very expensive and the service is nowhere near what it should be. The vegetarian pasties we bought were lukewarm and the man behind the counter possessed a Basil Fawlty' type of approach to hospitality. We felt that we were in the way ... taking up his time ... not a good attitude when he had just sold us two very expensive lukewarm pasties and some less than tasty macaroons. Perhaps some professional development courses in customer attitude and how to deliver service with a smile' would help remedy the...read more

I can't understand why this place is still going. Really poor quality bakery do yourself a favour and keep going down the road to the magnificent Sweet Envy, which Hobart is very lucky to have, or head to Pigeon Hole etc for bread. Hobart is spoiled for choice with wonderful pastry shops and bread suppliers Had a tasteless piece of cake at around and a terrible sourdough' at tasted like woolworths bread with a massively inflated price tag, just the vaguest hint of sourdough and obviously not handled as sourdough should be, poor quality flour and went hard as a rock in a day. Don't waste your money here. Kudos to the serving staff though, who are great just a shame...read more

this time we visit our good friends living in tassie, launceston. on the first day we drove almost hours from launceston to hobart. the clear and scenery in tasmania were simply amazing, we call it “Little new Zealand” anyway we went to one of our favorite breakfast places in new town, jackman mcross bakery. they can also enjoy this caffe in cbd, but it would be very busy! the mood and atmosphere were cozy and comfortable; we ordered “Scallop, wakame and leek” cake for although it is expensive, they served a great torte and generous filling of scallops. the cake was crispy and crispy from the outside; it was also perfectly baked. the scallops were...read more

delicious baked as if we were in paris! jackman and mcross bakery had the most incredible selection of cakes and baked pastries that our decision was quite difficult. to be honest, we were probably a little ambitious with how much we could eat, but when they saw that good his to tempt, not try! we had the simple cruciate (the largest I have ever seen, chocolate croissant and the sun-dried tomato and goat cheese danish. all were appalling, buttery and flaky. sitting on a table outside, devoting a croissant while sleeping on a coffee was the best way to finish our tassie journey! the opposite is picturesque and enchanting. eating is hit and miss. coffee was okay, a little weak. Gruyere cheese and choro roll was ok and pretty small. the charalate was a confused mix of sweet and Greek salad that had no taste. the hands down biggest disappointment was the tasty looking nuts, caramel and chocolate hedgehog slice. be warned, someone in the kitchen has emptied an empty last car salt worth in this dish, which makes it unusable. it wasn't clear until we drove down the street, or that would have been a sent back place, is okay, they're staying at the cake.

This café is a great spot to grab some delicious coffee. They offer a variety of tasty vegan dishes on the menu, all of which are top-notch. I hear they're planning to add even more vegan options in the future, so I can't wait to see what they have in store. If you're in Newtown, be sure to stop by and give them a try. It's definitely worth it.

Probably the most disappointing breakfast I've had in a Hobart. Besides bakery goods, none other foods are cooked in house, including poached eggs. I think I've eaten better food on a plane. Feels like the greed of feeding tourists has won. Expensive as hell for not fresh food. Dreadful, go to Environe across the road

Nice coffee but the food seemed very expensive for what it was and the service was lackluster. I wouldn't return in a hurry, I think there are better places in Hobart. Réservez une table maintenant
