I had such high hopes for this place that we decided to try for the first time while our daughter was in the area for a birthday party. We came in on a Saturday evening and at first we were the only ones in the building. We sat ourselves and were soon greeted by a pleasant server/bartender. The place is a little divey which I like. There's a bar side and a restaurant side and it's small. There was a fireplace but they couldn't turn it on because the remote broke. They had a fridge with desserts that didn't look on so I wondered how old those cakes were in there lol. This place prides itself on having a number of homemade items and locally sourced items so we thought we were in for a real treat. They have a full bar and a good assortment of beers in bottles/cans and a small number on tap. I had a good vodka martini and my husband and friend got a beer. So far so good. For an appetizer we got the pub fries and they were very good. They were crispy and flavorful and I liked the ranch dressing a lot. The salads were good and fresh and I liked the dressing which they say is housemade. As far as entrees go they were out of so many things. So we had to pick and choose a few different items before we found one they had. My husband had a mushroom swiss burger, I had the NY Strip, my friend had a crabcake, and my son had the spaghetti and homemade meatball special. The crabcake was good from what I hear but we didn't have that. My steak was SO SO bad. It was completely flavorless like not even salted. The meat was so tough and way undercooked. I asked for medium rare and it was raw. Then it had these mushrooms and onions on it and they were black. Like burnt to a cinder. When I asked about this the server said that this is how they were. She did offer me another mushroom but I didn't think it was worth it especially since my husband had black burnt mushrooms on his burger. The mashed potatoes that came with my steak were also flavorless and they were grey. I was so confused cause I stalked the website before and was so excited about these homemade mashed potatoes and meat from Groff's. My son's spaghetti and meatballs was not even spaghetti. It was rotini. He was okay with that as he's 11. But it was a poor display and very overcooked so it was slimy. And it was $15. So for the 3 of us as my friend was on a separate check, we spent $90 on food that was mostly inedible. In the restaurant's defense...I guess they're in the process of changing owners? But that doesn't mean they should slack on the quality of what they're serving their current customers. It's tough out there now, I get it, but when I am looking to get a good meal on a night out I just can't stomach spending money like that for what showed up on our table.

We got some drinks with another couple of ours. They were having music trivia when we were there too which was kinda fun. Drinks weren't too expensive. And the owner knew all of the regulars which kind of gives that nice smal/hometown feeling. Our friends knew the owner from coming in, so that was kinda fun and cool

First time here and will definitely be back. The country fried steak with sausage gravy and mashed potatoes is the best I've had since leaving North Carolina! Friendly staff and generous portions!
