We love coming to KUU, because the food is always amazing. Sure, it's a bit pricey, but it's a high end restaurant that is owned and run by the chef. Everything tasted great from the sous vide wagyu to the softshell crab to the scallops to the makimono. My son, who can be a little finicky, completely demolished the wagyu and asparagus, even fully partaking of the fig-based sauce, and he never eats sauces or puts dressing on his salads. My wife ordered the roasted brussel sprouts, which were served with a honey sauce that cut the usual bitterness of the sprouts to the point where I would actually order them for myself, and I really don't like brussel sprouts. Food was just ok. Had the duck which was cooked to our liking at the table. Fun concept but taste wasn't overly impressive. Pork Belly was the smallest serving EVER and could have used better accompaniments. It was served on a small smattering of a puree which had no flavor. We chose to share a sushi roll and I cannot recall the name, but it had tuna and hamachi, with some kind of truffle sauce. We both thought it had the strangest taste and totally overpowered the fish. The sushi grade fish was fresh and the nigiri nicely prepared and presented. The dobin mushi soup was very good but too small for the price. The morimaki was over-compacted and the rice was soft and mushy. The shrimp tempura was overcooked. The wagyu beef gyoza was like a pot sticker and needed more complex seasoning. The tables are rather small for groups of four. Everything is a la carte and our waitress seemed rushed and wasn't too helpful assisting with ordering. I would have liked to see more value combinations (i.e. bento boxes) on the menu and would have eaten more if prices weren't so expensive. This restaurant is very convenient if staying at the Westin hotel.
We dined Kuu when the restaurant first opened had a great experience with outstanding food. Our return was very disappointing. The food was mediocre and the dessert was old dry. Mouse is supposed to be soft should melt in your mouth. It was so old that the outer layer had darkened and the mouse was solid.
