"We had lunch here one Friday. It did not disappoint our expectations. We had a range of menus and were pleasantly satisfied. The reputation for good local produce was borne out by the charcuterie plate and the steaks. There were accompanied by a range of vegetables, all very tasty. The service was pleasant and efficient. Definitely one to add to the recommended list."

Expecting Michelin standards my wife and I were disappointed. However, that said ,unlike other reviews it was the level of service that was excellent. A virtual full restaurant on a Saturday night, individual tables plus a large party. After being seated the menu arrived promptly and our order taken. An aperitif came quickly follows by an amuse bouche. The first complaint, the quality of the bread, a choice of brown or white, not even an interesting roll, and not fresh. I chose the terrine, very good, followed by a confit de canard. Not a crispy skin, coated in honey, not at all what I am used to. My wife chose a Magret and commented the smallest one she had ever seen. The cafe gourmand howe...

I'm sorry to say that we didn't like this place at all. We were not made to feel welcome, rather a nuisance in fact. The ambience is not warm and the dining room is frightful. I appreciate that we don't all share the same tastes, and it's refreshing often to visit new places, but here ostentation wins over style. However, if you came to Salers, which is gorgeous but wish you had chosen Dubai or Vegas, then this is for you. The food was not of the standard we are used to at home in Rochechouart, where our Logis is consistently very good. My husbands trout was nice, but the puff pastry with blue cheese simply did not rise to the occasion and I just have to beg not to have beef garnished with a...

I must admit that I had been worried about eating here after reading some of the reviews, especially those that went on about poor, slow service, tough meat and noise. The reality was so different, the service slick and efficient, the Salers’ beef was amongst the best I’ve ever eaten and despite the restaurant containing several large tables the background chatter was not a problem. The choice of menus and the food itself was excellent and at the end of the day two menus with wine ended up costing far less than I’d expected. My only complaint... next time I am going to eat there at mid-day, the food was too filling for me to eat late in the evening.

We expected to have a wonderful meal at this Maitre Restaurateur restaurant and were not disappointed. The decor, service and quality of food wine were excellent Service friendly, efficient, unhurried and smiling. Wine inspired recommendation of Cotes d'Auvergne Les Amandiers was fine accompaniment to our meal Food presentation, quality of ingredients and cooking all perfect. Great local cuisine with local produce We'll be back !!
