Le Bistrot is tucked away just a few yards from the tourist trappings of the Royal Mile, but feels almost like another world. Calm, relaxed, and authentically French. The service is prompt and professional, the food is good without being especially memorable, and it is a very nice place to spend an hour or two. The choices of desserts is slightly lacking (cakes, ice cream, or cheese), but overall, it is a very pleasant experience, and I’m sure we will return.
The food was definitely the standout feature of this restaurant; it was excellent. However, the service was lacking during the quiet off-peak hours, as the staff seemed inattentive. We likely would have ordered additional food and drinks if they had checked on us more often. The atmosphere was delightful, but the background music was quite off-putting—terrible elevator music featuring poor acoustic covers of 80s and 90s rock songs.
This is our third visit to the bistro, and it continues to impress. It's an ideal spot for those seeking fresh, quality food, an authentic French experience, and attentive service. Once again, all three aspects were excellent. If you're looking for a delightful evening with your family, this is the perfect choice.
The food was barely adequate. It was boring, not particularly French and cold, served open cold plates. The staff were charming and the venue is great. A missed opportunity, with really French food it would be good. Réservez une table maintenant
