Our party of two couples stayed one night. We booked Le Bellevue just as a convenient economical overnight stop heading South from Calais and avoiding the ,sometimes slow, morning traffic in Rouen the next day. Reviews seemed OK so we expected an adequate break in our journey. What we experienced was different .The riverside location and views are superb and La Bouille is a charming village. Parking is street only and might sometimes be an issue but we managed to get right outside the hotel. Checking in was efficient and friendly. Ageing legs welcomed the presence of a lift. The rooms are small and basic and a bit dated it is an unpretentious 2* but adequate, clean and with a real French cha...
The restaurant here is fabulous. The service is excellent. The food is freshly cooked and is absolutely delicious. If you don't stay at the hotel, the restaurant is well worth a visit. The hotel itself is not so good. We had to wait outside until 4.30 before we could get into the room, which was quite small and run down. I would have expected more for the price, including a kettle in the room as some provide. The town is lovely with lots of bars and restaurants. There is a handy free ferry to cross the Seinne. Premier chambre n°35 petite et très vieille, cheveux sales, toiles d'araignée. Changement de chambre n°42, plus grande avec vue sur la Seine, mais aussi des toiles d'araignée, accompagnées de brochures pour du linge de lit de mauvaise qualité. Et la surprise du matin : pas d'eau chaude. Seul le restaurant du soir a donné satisfaction. En conclusion, le prix est trop cher : 110 € pour un service si médiocre. If the location of the hotel offers a beautiful view of the Seine, it is quite different for the quality and cleanliness of the room. Beyond the outdated appearance of the room and the lack of equipment, it would have been nice to ensure cleanliness: worn bedding, bathroom with hair and marks on the walls, missing finishes.
