Had a lovely lunch with 2 friends at Muya this afternoon. Muya is an Ethiopian Restaurant and very authentic in its offerings. We shared a vegetable platter and a beef dish. You can adjust the level of the seasonings and the owner/staff are helpful and patient. Eating with our hands was fun as we scooped up the delicious food with Teff bread...more like crepe than a bread. They roast green beans to order and the coffee was amazing. The bill is a pleasant surprise as well. Bringing my husband on my next visit.
A friend invited me for lunch here. Do not let the strip mall location turn you away. This is is small place with simple decor but the food is some of the most authentic Ethiopian I have eaten. We had the chicken and a side of lentil. The chicken came with a whole egg. Both came with injera bread. What set this place apart is the use of authentic spices. Food seems slow cooked with a depth of flavour that only comes by using quality ingredients and deep understanding. Well done. I will be back.
We had 4 dishes for 3 people ...much too much food but all delicious and the over ordering was entirely our own fault for not being able to decide between so many good options. Doro wat was great but because on the bone a little harder to eat with injera ...but they did give us each a drumstick. Would eat there again in a minute. I have spent several months in Ethiopia and love the food and this is a good representation of the food.
I've eaten here more than once and the food is very good and tasty. The owners are also lovely, genuine folk. The food is superb value with their "Ultimate Combination Plate" (pictured) at $35 easily feeding 3-4 people. The injera, a flatbread is unusual and delicious and the owners make hundreds daily for distribution across the GTA. Finish it off with a lovely coffee, served ceremonially. This is some of the best Ethiopian food we've had outside of Ethiopia. The shiro wat and special kitfo are superb with excellent injera! Thank you for this wonderful taste of one of our favourite cuisines. If you haven't yet tried Ethiopian food, this would be a great place to start.
