Making good espresso isn’t difficult, especially with expensive machines to do most of the work for you. Despite this, the espresso drinks at Old Union Coffee shop, whether it’s a cappuccino, latte, or flat white, are all terrible. After having purchased coffee from here multiple times, I have been consistently disappointed. The staff never properly pack the espresso grinds into the filter, causing the hot water from the machine to overflow the filter into the cup, leaving you with a cup of sort of coffee tasting hot water. The filter is rarely cleaned either, meaning old grinds are mixed into your cup. Good espresso is easy, and a coffee shop doesn’t need to be high end or super professional for good coffee, yet Old Union still manages to consistently mess up what would otherwise be good coffee. Don’t waste your time.

On a visit to St Andrews, my husband and I stopped in for a cup of coffee. It was clean and tidy and you weren't paying through the nose for your coffees. It was reasonably busy and there was a good choice of cakes. I would recommend going here to get your coffee rather than one of the normal chain shops. Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome. This cute little shop had excellent coffee, an easily accessible WC, and a very pleasant staff. The ceiling beams have the names of illustrious persons who have served as rectors of the university. And of course, have a good laugh as the shop sits at the corner of Butts Wynd.

Parked near by and family needed food. A great place and friendly staff. Bacon roll was delicious and everyone else food was great.. Reasonably priced especially where it's situated...
