This was our second visit, and both times the service left much to be desired. We waited an hour and a half for our food, which consisted of just two rolls and the $29 bluefin O-Toro tuna sashimi. The sashimi was laden with white streaks of connective tissue, making it incredibly chewy and stringy—so much so that I had to discreetly dispose of it in my napkin. When I asked the waiter for a better cut, he returned with the same plate and said that all their pieces were like that. This was very unprofessional.
When the check arrived, we refused to pay for the sashimi since most of it had ended up in my napkin, and we had asked for it to be removed. The waitress shot me an angry look and conde...
I used to be very excited about Oto Oto. The vibe and taste was that of an izakaya in Japan. The quality of the good declined on recent visits, and the most recent one was horrible. Experience was particularly disappointing because I took a special guest to the meal. The tempura in particular was atrocious—clearly the oil in which it was fried was not hot enough. To add insult to injury, a deafening fire alarm (certainly un healthy for our four year old child) went off in the middle of our meal and stayed on for at least 10 minutes. We stood outside until it ended. Afterward, there was no apology and no offer of a discount or comp which would seem normal under the circumstances.
My worst restaurant experience ever. The AC was off, the fire alarm was on for 5 minutes, all the customers had to go out in the middle of the dinning and wait outside.I ordered chicken udon, the server said they have beef udon, but she brought up tempura udon. I was talking with my mom and didn’t realize it until ate some of it. Then we called the server and she said they don’t have beef udon, but they can change to other food like Ramen, we agreed. Then, later she came and said the manager said she could only cancel the udon, no changing, since we already ate some of it. Anyway, I will never go to this restaurant again.
Love that this place is quality late night and attentive. Fish is sold high quality and market values for sushi; great for special occasions. Our servers offered wonderful recommendations get the Caterpillar ? Roll and Omakasi Sashimi (decadent and worth sharing for 2 if you're not as hungry as I was)! We also got kurasawa (sake) and soft shell crab ? to start! The sauce for the crab was flavorful. Vegetarian options: The Green Village (or something along those lines) veggie roll was delicious. Great tempura prep and nice texture.

? sushi combo premium the sushi combo premium comes with 8pc tuna roll and 8pc nigiri sushi. I asked them to upgrade the tuna roll to a yellowtail roll and they agreed for an extra $4.00— totally worth it! I also asked them to not put wasabi on the nigiri pieces it was soooo yummy! I actually was surprised to see some of these fish instead of unagi and shrimp but very much happy with the uni! I will definitely go back to try other items on the menu like the negitoro maki and citrus roll.
Stylish atmosphere but only decent food. Everything was lackluster and flavor was not great. Ordered the West Covina roll which is only a slightly dressed up salmon California roll. The premium sashimi platter had a decent assortment but the cuts of fish tasted cheap and not fresh. Chicken wing appetizer was dry and sauce was flavorless. The octopus tentacles special was also rubbery and flavorless.
The service and food are consistently excellent! If you're craving delicious yakitori, this is the place to be. A tip: visit on the weekend for the best yakitori experience—while they do serve it during the week as well, the grill master just seems to shine more on weekends!
Great little Japanese restaurant gem in Arcadia, great food at a reasonable price. I love the miso cod.
