Everything about this place is great. The food, the atmosphere, the vibe. Everything. Except for one guy. There's this regular that is white, bald, middle-aged man named Justin. He tries to pick a fight there almost every night and talks a boat load of smack. He even gets hostile toward women. He creates a threatening and unsafe environment. I talked to the owner about 86ing him because of his behavior but he is still there...trying to pick a new fight every single day. I've been a regular for nearly 5 years but my sister, husband and I will not come back nor will I delete this post until he is 86ed once and for all. Do the right thing and get rid of the threatening trouble maker. Until then...
The place wasn’t busy at 6:30. I ordered a drink and at 6:40 ordered fish and chips. At 7:20 I asked the barkeep to check on my order. She said they would start working on my order next. She offered a refund that I accepted and nearly an hour after placing the order she gave me money back. I ended up going to Taco Time. The whole experience was very disappointing. While chatting with regulars they said it was a nice place to have a drink but don’t bother ordering food. There are so many great places in the neighborhood to eat I will certainly never go back to The Pickled Onion.
The restaurant has a policy that prevents women from requesting that men not use their bathrooms. Simply wearing a dress doesn't necessarily make someone transgender or grant them the right to enter a women’s private space. A man sang karaoke in a manner typically associated with men, yet he was allowed in the women’s restroom due to his attire. If he were genuinely transgender and had transitioned, that would be different, but he is still fully male. This situation seems quite unreasonable.
First time at trivia night and first time trying pickled onion. This is a typical divey bar so it's not going to appeal to everyone but the trivia host was very lively and entertaining and trivia is done on paper instead of an app. Bar staff is friendly, but with one person running the bar and one running the kitchen it did take a while to get our food. Food was hot and tasty when it finally arrived. Side salad was really good and the buffalo wings have just the right spice Réservez une table maintenant
This place has a charming, local atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The wraps are fantastic—definitely try the tots! They offer a solid selection of good beers and tasty mixed drinks. If you're unsure about what to order, don’t hesitate to ask for a recommendation; they can whip up something delicious for you!
I had a great time at the karaoke night! The lady DJ was full of energy, which I really appreciated. The staff were all friendly, adding to the positive atmosphere. Some of the regulars had questionable behavior, but given it's Renton, I guess that's to be expected. Overall, the place has a relaxed and enjoyable vibe.
