Vin and Mrs Merlot met some of Vin's school chums here after 32 years! Yes age had changed them so much that they failed to recognise each other!3pm Sat afternoon on the Melbourne Street side outside but covered area. Very pleasant, and nowhere as noisy as inside or near to screens with afternoon football. Can get pretty rowdy as the crowd moves in for Saturday night festivities.Normal drinks at not unreasonable prices plus a cheese and fruit platter ($24).Bears little resemblance to a British pub more akin to an Aussie beer barn.Nevertheless pleasant way to spend Saturday afternoon with old friends. Not bad at all

Been to the riverside place a few times now and always had the perfect British fish n chips. Excited to take my boyfriend to experience, thought try the West End venue. Bad idea no bread n butter to start off with?!? Why? How can you have British fish n chips without a chip buttie?! Chips were so wrong chunky and not original. Fish batter was over cooked and why garnish with salad. Not sure if it's because different chefs or this is how the franchise has gone. I am still tempted to try eagle St next time I'm up so please be good!!
Visited this place after a starving morning in the Convention Centre - this is a place to take the mates! Couple of beers during a match - no worries. The food was quite good, ordered the Jumbo Prawns and Pulled Pork roll. Generous serving with well above average flavours - the pulled pork was quite tender and was swimming in saucy goodness. I would only fault that the barkeeps are nowhere to be seen as well as the waiters - you would need to yell for attention a bit at the counter to get some service.
We ordered pulled pork roll, slow cooked Lamb Shanks, Smokey BBQ meaty Pork Ribs and of course alcohol. The pulled pork was like a sweet sauce, I hardly tasted any BBQ flavor, the pulled pork was rather cold while the bun was hard to eat too. The lamb shank was too, not so good. Big chunk chips was good. Other than that, it was a quiet night. The environment was great while the TV sports programmes was great to add on. Réservez une table maintenant
Tried the traditional English Fish n chips. Complete garbage batter was still white an soggy inside got indigestion from it, chips are tasteless pre frozen type thrown into fryer, nothing whatsoever traditional about it. $30 rippoff far as I'm concerned.
Had the PigNWhistle burger and chips with a Southern and coke. Both the Burger and Chunky chips were great but the order took a long time and by the time it arrived the food was a little cool. Will give them another try when next in the area.
Compare to our P&W i have visited, I think this one have the best quality of food. I have been visited here for several times - dinner for two to event with over 15 people... consistent food quality and presentation.
Not really like a typical English pub. Very big and spacious. Food and drink fairly expensive (like most places in Brisbane). Not much of an English pub atmosphere. Sports shown on TV. Réservez une table maintenant

"The food was tasty. But everyone at our table immediately felt very ill. Almost instantly. The salmon was also a little to raw. The meat was quite a fatty cut"
