Very torn about the Restaurant Museum which positions itself as one of the top fine dining restaurants in Tuebingen - located very centrally within this Southern German University town. I had high expectations, and really liked the menu offerings with a focus on fresh local Swabian and German dishes. Nevertheless, I left disappointed in the end since the overall restaurant experience clearly fell short of my expectations.I visited the restaurant with family for lunch during a day trip to Tuebingen, and we were hoping to take advantage of the very attractively priced "business lunch" special as well as the expected fine dining experience at the Museum. Positively, the food and drinks prepared...
The MUSEUM RESTAURANT in Tübingen is a culinary find! Not pretentious or overbearing...the dining experience affords fine prepared Swabian tradional choices served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere! LOTHAR SCHMID has curated a must-stop in the region....much like the postal-inn stops of a bygone era...where a traveller felt being attended to personally. A protagonist of FOOD KNOWLEDGE, he and his alert associates have advanced the standards in the kitchen while enhancing the feeling of his guests in the dining room!
I went here with my girlfriend for our Thanksgiving dinner together. I was extremely impressed with the quality of food. The chef did an outstanding presentation with the food, and was just such a real treat to eat so well. Between the 2 of us, we spent about 150 euros total. We had a 30 euro bottle of wine, and our dishes were approximately 30 euros a piece, plus a small appetizer and dessert for two. Amazing!
We had a great overall experience!The waiter was very kind and attentive and spoke English which was a plus!We had the lunch special for 10 Euros which was a steal- creamy mushroom soup, beef bourguignon and crispy creamed potatoes- All were excellent!We complimented our dish with their recommended Spanish red wine! perfect combo!!!We will be back!!!!

We have had dinner and lunch at the Restaurant Museum on several occasions. The food is consistently of a very high quality. Gluten free requirements have been very graciously and deliciously accommodated. The serving staff have been unfailingly gracious and helpful. Each visit has been an extremely positive experience.
Went for lunch to the Museum and I found it elegant and more than adequate. The food was tasty the service very helpful and the atmosphere relaxed and and cosy. Well worth a visit to this restaurant in central Tubingen.
Brillaint food and an extensive menu selection. Our waiter was fantastic, friendly and helpful. The meals and salad assortment were excellent. And, free parking. I would rate it as excellent, but it was very expensive.
Located in the former museum just off the old town Museum offers very good quality of space and food, often inspired by local products. Classy, good quality, maybe a bit posh. Not too cheap, but it is worth the price

Food is Schwäbisch ok: But not as outstanding as the flair and prices intent. Very centra located, but you will find better locations around.
