Despite the weather being cold wet we had a lovely visit to The Abbey today. We started off by warming up with a nice cappuccino in the cafe with a lovely view of the Abbey, followed by a Falconry display by a couple dressed up in medieval clothes who were funny entertaining, treating the 4 beautiful birds they displayed with great respect. We were taken by all the birds particularly the golden eagle, an elderly bird of maybe 19 years old who had a very majestic demeanour. After the display we walked around the Abbey Ruins where we were presented with some beautiful architecture and a very serene atmosphere. we had a wonderful time to visit rievaulx and had luck with the weather in februar! it is fantastic for all age groups, as my children loved, to explore the place and find hidden gems around the abtei. scenic landscape and a great place for pictures! would be worth it again, but I would avoid going through the sutton bank route as my heart was in my neck! the staff was also brilliant and helpful. thank you for making it unforgettable for all of us.

If I wanted to drive to the restaurant, I must have taken a wrong turn, as Rievaulx Abbey stands in the distance. The museum provides a fascinating insight into how the monks lived and what the abbey must have looked like before the Reformation. There is so much to see and do, especially on a beautiful day outside. Plus, the café serves delicious, wholesome food, and the profits go towards maintaining the abbey, which looks stunning.

My Dad died in 1995 and his ashes are scattered around the high altar. Rievaulx has always been an incredibly special place for me and my family, but now even more so. My wedding was blessed at his beautiful place in August and we have a lovely bench now dedicated to his memory. Dad loved this place... And so do I. Réservez une table maintenant

This is a fantastic place to discover with plenty of nooks and crannies for children to explore. I've visited many times, and it never ceases to captivate me. The surroundings are stunning, and the drive from the A170 is truly breathtaking. It's likely one of the top five destinations in Britain, if not beyond!

A fantastic place for the kids to explore and stunning setting for a picnic. Loved our visit yesterday. Even managed to get the kids to listen to the history of the place by an amusing man dressed as a monk!! Excellent place, shall be returning soon !

We just visited Rievaulx Abbey on September 18, 2016, and I must say, I was truly impressed. It far exceeded my expectations, and I absolutely loved the place. If I ever have the chance to return, I will definitely do so without hesitation! ❤️
