We have been going to the sea shanty for years but after tonight, never again. Ordered fish and chips for my family of (as my partners choice for his birthday dinner) got home and we were short pieces of fish. I called up...and was told I could come back and collect the missing fish. Got there and rather than an apology I was rudely told that “next time you have to bring back the whole order so we can inspect it, that’s managements policy”. I don’t know about you lady but it’s not going to go down well when I roll the fish and chip packet open and then tell my hungry kids they can’t eat it because cook stuffed up the order. Traveling through. Parked in a nearby side street. Staff very friendly. Food was great esp the Great chips and big tender calamari rings. There’s only small tables. Most people waited outside for takeaway orders. It was a bit warm inside. Our order was ready...very quickly. Staff helpful even though they were clearly busy.
Love a good ole fish and chip shop and this has all the trappings pitty it missed out on the service quality besides that expensive price point for a seafood pack!!!! Staff were incredibly cold at first then got my pack and was calamari ring, go across the road to KFC at least you know what you are getting....
Decided to get fish and chips for dinner as we had stopped nearby for the night. Ordered crumbed fish got ordered small chips think I got large. Talk about value for money. GTHe chips were really crisp (indicating fresh oil), and...the fish was just excellent.

Value for money for the very best fish and chips I have ever experienced. Didn't have to wait long for our order. Walking distance from our overnight accommodation. Highly recommended. Would use again whenever we travel through Mackay
Very poor selection, most things, sorry none of that. I got oysters which had that much revolting batter on them that was raw in the middle and uneatable. Waste of money won't be going back.
No nonsense, squeaky clean venue serving freshly cooked local seafood at reasonable prices with minimum fuss. Handy to the motel strip along Nebo Road, easy walk from most venues.

When visiting Mackay, I always try to visit the Sea Shanty the fish is great, but the chips and their tartare sauce are even better.
Overpriced for the quality. Hats off to the ladies who are working in such a hot shop. They were very hard working.
