Come here often enough and they will even remember your name and 'usual '. As far as I can tell, Shangri-La is one of those suburban Chinese restaurants that have stood the test of time. The decor and menu offering, especially the Sunday specials have been around since day one. Every Sunday, the chef serves up a Chinese/Malaysian specialty(s) for lunch and you can tell that's when the regular patrons flock in, usually after morning church service.<br/ <br/ As for us, Shangri-La sets the benchmark for their fish head noodle soup. No place can beat these guys. The fish head is beautifully deep-fried and the soup is perfectly balanced with the right amount of tang from the preserved vegetables and tomatoes.

The dishes here remind us of those found in Malaysian Chinese restaurants. The raw fish salad featured a generous amount of fresh salmon, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We were delighted to find the rare taro ring and delicious red bean pancakes on the menu. The prawns, perfectly cooked and served on a bed of noodles, were expertly prepared and tasted incredible. The portion sizes were quite generous, and I didn’t detect any significant issues with MSG. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience!

Shangri-La Inn is very dated Chinese restaurant in terms of decor but the menu includes all traditional dishes and is inexpensive. The staff are friendly and service is very quick. The food is fresh and tasty and portions being the perfect size. Gold Leaf is our go to for delicious Chinese food, but Shangri-La Inn is good if your not looking for anything to fancy. <br/ <br/ TIP: Do order the Satay Chicken Skewers and the Prawns with Black Bean Sauce. I frequently order takeout for my wife and me after our long shifts on Sundays. I've never had a negative experience. Shangri La is by far the best Chinese/Malaysian restaurant in the area. The service is consistently good and quite fast, and the meals are always hot and delicious. Everything about this gem of a place is outstanding.

The food was excellent. We enjoyed the ginger noodles featuring large prawns, Yong Tau Foo with black bean paste, pig stomach soup with Szechuan peppers, steamed coral trout, and Cantonese beef. We'll definitely return to try more dishes.

This place does good staple Asian cuisine. The prawns and vegetables are a hit and go so well with their special fried rice. service is always great. Locally, Shangri La Inn are a good option to choose from

The best authentic Malaysian food in Melbourne. My son is very particular about his sweet and sour pork, And even he agrees it's as good as how we get it in Malaysia. Worth Every Dollar!!! Réservez une table maintenant
