One evening, my wife, adult daughter, and I decided to visit this restaurant in Porthleven after reading previous reviews. We arrived around 6pm and were surprised to see how busy the pub was for a midweek night in November. It appeared to be a popular spot for locals, with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Although there were initially no available tables, we managed to secure one after about 15 minutes, giving us time to look over the menu. On our first evening in Porthleven, we walked the harbor all the way around from our cottage in spitting rain very windy conditions to enjoy a meal at The Ship Inn. Our hopes were high given our trek thru chilly less than ideal conditions. We were not disappointed in ANY aspect!! The atmosphere was lively, our table was tucked in a cozy corner where we could observe all the goings-on of English pub life, the service was fabulous, and our drinks and meals were SO GOOD!! We went to the Ship Inn Porthleven Cornwall ordered drinks and three cooked meals from their menu and waited and waited with their music blaring loudly, and when the food was brought to us all three of us had issues with the meals, over cooked the pork was cut in oblong tiny way potatoes roasted and burnt, the meal was awful while struggling to eat it the music deafening sound carried on. I absolutely loved the atmosphere of this quant Cornish harbour pub. I got the impression lots of locals use. Unfortunately during the week visiting in September/October it was always so busy to sit inside. There is the Smithy area (extra indoor seating, but we sat outside looking out at the harbour and under cover outdoor area. Simple menu but I feel it is all about the drinking. Had a very tasty burger and good chips! My husband said his Guinness was perfectly creamy and poured well but a little pricy! I had a good house gin and tonic good value for money. Staff were very jolly and friendly. I kinda wish it were my local obvious because of the views too!

I don't even know where to begin with this review - from the moment we walked in until we left, we were greeted with the most welcoming and friendly staff at this pub. The bartender was fantastic and very helpful. We arrived 15 minutes before the kitchen opened and were politely asked if we could wait until 12:00 to order, which was no problem at all. By 11:55, the bartender was already taking our order as we enjoyed our pre-lunch drinks. The food was exceptional, with the burger being excellent and the mussels being outstanding. The pub itself is amazing and the views are top-notch. I highly recommend this place.
We were fortunate to secure a table at this restaurant on a stormy Sunday afternoon. We sat by a window with a view of the waves crashing over the breakwater. The atmosphere was lovely, but what really stood out was the exceptional service from the staff. They were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond. The food was delicious and the beers were well-maintained. The pub has a bright and cheery interior, situated in a perfect spot overlooking the harbor and the sea. If you don't visit the Ship Inn during your time in Porthleven, you truly haven't experienced all that the town has to offer.
lovely pub with great views from its outside area and a warm welcome inside. This is a bit of an icon due to its location and well worth a visit on a trip to this attractive fishing village. We did not eat but the food looked good and seemed well priced. The beer was very well kept and there were both craft and real laes and my wife enjoyed her cider. The staff were friendly but there is no parking.
We arrived at the pub with our very nervous Border Collie. It was apparent that there was not a suitable table so the very friendly lady behind the bar suggested we use the Smithy which gave us and our dog space. We had an amazing lunch of Mussels and fish and chips. We can fully recommend this pub to anyone.

It’s been a while since we felt so welcome in a pub especially with a dog. A lovely old style pub in a Cornish fishing village I half expected a Pirate to walk through the door. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. Highly recommended. Bar staff were a credit to the place.
Fantastic quiz night. Really friendly staff and a great quiz master. Would recommend a visit if you are staying in Porthleven.
