I had previously stopped going to Smashburger on 17th Street because I noticed a decline in both quality and cleanliness. However, out of a sense of desperation, I decided to give the Smashburger on Essex Street a try, and I was pleasantly surprised. It seems that the menu has been simplified, but the quality has greatly improved. The basic burger and grilled chicken sandwich were both hearty and flavorful. They also had a nice variety of fountain drinks, including four non-carbonated options in addition to the usual sodas. The service was friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant was clean. I will definitely be returning!
I had high expectations about Smashburger, but the food was lacking. The onionstrings were soggy, instead of crispy. The large smashfries were hardly filled up in the container. I was on the hunt for some tater tots and I found the perfect spot. I also tried the crispy chicken sandwich, and I really enjoyed it. Both dishes were deliciously crispy, and the chicken sandwich came with sweet onions, fresh tomatoes, and lettuce. The place was very clean as well. Overall, I’d give it a 9/10 and would definitely return!
