"A real local hangout (I felt like the only one who didn't know everyone else!), they do cocktails and French-style tapas. Sit on the terrace right by the canal. It's a charming place with friendly staff and good food that doesn't come in enormous portions (or prices!)."

I had the misfortune to eat at this restaurant this evening. Suffering from an allergy to red wine I trusted the sommelier (if one could call her that) to assist me. She told me if she opened a bottle of special organic wine I could use it as a takeaway and the price would be €8. After much debate where she weas most unhelpful I finally agreed to a bottle that I could open and take away. On paying the bill however the price I was charged was €16. This was not explained to me either that evening or the previous day when I enquired. When I pointed this out to the server that she had not made it clear that there were two prices - one to have on site, the other to take away, she simply laughed at me and said I did not ask?? As I left the restaurant she laughed at me some more with her friends...a really disgusting way to deal with a guest. What dreadful service. An appalling restaurant hiding behind the ethics of organic food and wine to con people into paying higher prices. Please don't go there.

We enjoyed a lazy dinner by the river one evening in June. Our daughter enjoyed watching the ducks float along the river while we had a great dinner of hearty salads including smoked salmon and jambon cru. The baked Camembert was decadent and a perfect starter to go with our bottle of local Cotes du Rhone. The service was attentive and friendly and helpful in making our selections.A great spot for a casual bite by the water.

This is a great little place with a cosy shaded terrace, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the village in a quiet location on the river. Lots of good choices for wine, plus a small selection of dishes, mostly tapas style. During pauses in conversation, enjoy the local ducks and water otters as they go about their business just mètres from your table.

Set back from the street, Sous La Robe is small so plan ahead. But the food and particularly the presentation has no match. Leave your diet at home. Sit outside on the small patio overlooking the river and watch the ducks, absorb the filtered light from the trees and generally satisfy your appetite and your soul.
