I was extremely excited to check out Southern Kin, but unfortunately I was very let down. My girlfriends and I have a standing brunch date once a week, and we thought for sure this would be a hit. It wasn't I ordered my usual: chicken and waffles. If that's on the menu, I'm getting it even at per plate. The problem? The chicken skin was rubbery,there was hardly any crunch batter. The waffles were almost as thin as a pancake and for cheddar-chive waffles, they had barely any taste. They were also not crisp and crunchy like a waffle should be The pros? We arrived earlier than our reservation and was seated a few minutes after our reservation time. The noise level is loud and the dining area is fairly small but cozy. The table service was great. Recommended the catfish and it was awesome. The skillet steak was tasty but hard to justify the cost of Biscuits came out warm. Didnât expect them to be sweet but they were yummy. Drinks galore, hard to choose with the variety. We opted for seasonal crumble pie which was apple pie and for more you get a small scoop of ice cream. Again, a bit pricey for the amount given. I would go again for the catfish.
My fiancà and I came to Southern Kin for a quick brunch before heading home after a night in the Assembly Row area. I have been here before and always had good food and even better service, and that continues to be the case. We were well taken care of by our server, King. He is attentive, professional and has an impeccable sense of when to leave us and when to come over to check in. If you go to Southern Kin and have King as your server, youâll be in good hands! Do yourself a favor and get an order of the skillet cornbread. Itâs top notch.
I was really excited about going here for brunch and was a little let down. The waiter didnât take our order for at least minutes and didnât even update us when something we had ordered was sold out. We didnât find out until we asked where it was. It took minutes for the food to come out with no update at all from our waiter. The waiter was really nice but didnât update us at all. The food was good though. Iâll definitely go back and hope for better service next time.

Went here for our anniversary, looking for great food in a relaxed setting. Exactly what we found here at Southern kin. Food was outstanding we got chicken and waffles, half rack ribs, macncheese, grilled cornbread and tge chicken rind chips. All very very good. Will be coming back at some point.
Pre-movie meal included the deviled eggs, Carolina wings, wedge salad and jumbalaya, all great. Entrees were fried chicken and ribs, the table raved. Service was friendly and perfect. Bourbon pecan pie and coconut pie also received high marks. Always a great place to indulge.
Came for my birthday on Sunday and have Been coming here for a couple years. The fried chicken is INSANELY GOOD. I live in Framingham and make the trip anytime we want fried chicken!!! Absolutely delicious!!!
The food is very tasty and presented well. Service was extremely friendly from our server and the manager. Better than expected. The four of us loved our food.

Came here for brunch. The cornbread is amazing and so is the poutine. Chicken and waffles were available as a special but are not explicitly on the menu.
