Trying to find a dinner venue close to the house we've rented for the weekend has been a challenge, but a good pub meal always suffices and sometimes more than suffices. Not so in this case. I will say firstly that the service was great and the staff accommodating without fault, even when I had to return my meal and leave with an empty stomach for lack of alternatives. The menu is sparse and a steak $13.00 more than the other standard pub fare which starts at $21.00 for a schnitzel with chips and salad. That was the first disappointment with adolescent kids along for the weekend $33.00 for a pub steak is a little excessive even by Melbourne standards. I was looking forward to a steak but I settled for the open steak sandwich and the kids ordered the schnitzel. Presentation was beautiful but the steak was virtually inedible and after persevering for 2 painstaking bites which I could not swallow, I had to return it. It was so chewy I felt that I couldn't swallow it even after 5 minutes of chewing and it tasted as if it had been cooked on a grill that had not been cleaned for a month. Additionally my daughter who is vegetarian could order nothing but mash and veg which were over cooked and left behind. Overall a disappointing meal only made bearable, by the polite accommodating staff, who returned my money with sincere apologies for the experience. Stay away from the steak sanga and the schnitzel (which my kids say was dry and only edible because of the mushroom sauce) and you might find a treasure. The view and location are certainly A1, with a more proficient chef they'd have a jewel.

Lovely little township with several eating places. The pub meal was overpriced but quite edible. Service was reasonable and the house wine was good compared to others. Views across Port Phillip are great. Menu is sad and needs a review, not a lot of choices. Overall a visit to the township is worthwhile.

This unprepossessing building, albeit in a beautiful location was a complete surprise in the food department! While the dining room was rather down at heel, the meals we had were simply delicious.

Had chips and garlic bread nothing there foe a vegetarian. not a good atmosphere tired and run down. good spot though across from pier and not to bad $$ wise.
