Stone Pipe Grill - Réservation de table

We had a family dinner at Stone Pipe Grill early in July. Like many restaurants in Sooke, reviews were mixed on TripAdvisor (and elsewhere) but the menu seemed to have suitable choices and we gave it a try. Of the three meals, my son's burger was probably the only thing that I would give a passing grade. The rest was a big "fail". I had the "Flatiron Surf and Turf" - a rather nice name for a pretty sad meal. The tiny piece of strip loin was chewy and essentially tasteless, and the thin sauce that was sloshing around the plate didn't do anything to help. the "prawns" were almost certainly four cocktail shrimp taken from a freezer bag - soggy and unappetizing. Used to go to Stone Pipe quite regularly but haven't been in over a year. Obviously we should have stayed away more. While we were gone the place changed hands and there is a lot more Chinese food on the menu. My hubby ordered the Seafood Pasta which had clams and mussels in an Alfredo sauce. He enjoyed it. I initially ordered the steak sandwich but was informed that there was no steak (?). How can a restaurant run out of steak? I then ordered a cup of Seafood Chowder and the Poutine. Soup was okay but the poutine was god awful! The chips were stale, deep fried to death and so crispy the gravy wouldn't adhere to them. The cheese curds were one clump and terrible. Excellent food. We've tried the Salmon Dinner which I raved about, and I usually don't rave about anything, the Spaghetti Bolognese which was superb, and a giant hamburger that was moist and very tasty. Then we've had Fried Ice Cream for dessert - twice, it was so good. My friend is raving about the Chow Mein and Sweet and Sour, so we will continue to frequent this restaurant ...weekly seeing as we now live in Sooke!! Well worth the drive - it's at the corner of Sooke Road and Otter Point Rd.

Nice, clean, and bright place right on the main drag in Sooke. Cordial service, nice, comfortable dining area. I think the place is run by a Chinese family, and that is reflected in their pretty big and eclectic menu, everything from fried rice to pasta to burgers to wraps (the seafood wrap was excellent). Everybody will find something on this menu they'll like.Parking is right outside their door and prices are reasonable too. Réservez une table maintenant

Stumbled upon this place because nothing is open very late in the area. The service was great, food was really good and served quickly. Fish and chips and the curry dish were fantastic. My son said it was the best burger he has had.

Popped in for evening meal and received a lovely friendly welcome. For a family with teens it offered an reasonable menu for different tastes. Would have gone again if staying longer.

I had chicken pad thai and the person I was with had a clubhouse. Both were delicious. The clubhouse had a turkey breast-not sandwich meat and the pad thai was amazing.

Had lunch here one day and dinner the next day (that was take out) .... both were very good, actually excellent. Spaghetti Bolognese was really good. Réservez une table maintenant

It's my fav restaurant in Sooke.lots of variety but I stick to seafood. It has gluten free chowder which is not common.
