I ordered a chai latte and a scramble while my partner opted for a donut. They asked if I wanted maple syrup in the chai, and I declined. That turned out to be a mistake because it was not sweet at all—very different from any chai I've had before—and I couldn't drink it. When my meal arrived, the server didn't bring napkins or utensils. I noticed they placed my order on the outer shelf, so I went to grab it, but they told me, rather huffily, that those were only for takeout and I had to go to the counter for utensils. Seriously? The scramble was filling but needed some acidity and color. It consisted of tofu (not the usual crumbs typically found in a scramble), potatoes, and black beans...
Everything about this cafe is perfect, including the location. I highly recommend driving as far as you need to in order to get to this litle gem in the middle of nowhere. We had the mac cheeze, the bean burrito (with saucy, seasoned rice...mmmmmmm... , a fesh respberry lemonade, and all the desserts. They were out of doughnuts and bundt cake the day we went, which was sad, but the coffee cake, blueberry scone, and raspberry bars made up for that. I was seriously impressed with the baked goods here. We got several things (pb choc chip cookies, donut, Whoopi pie), all delicious, and I am very particular about my baked goods (my mom is a professional baker). What’s even more impressive is that many of the items are gluten free. I don’t usually care for GF desserts because they’re often oily or grainy, but these were neither. Just super light, fluffy, and delicious. The breakfast burrito was just OK, but the baked goods alone make it worth a visit. And I’d try more savory food too next time I’m in town.
I visited this restaurant last week with a friend, and we had a wonderful experience. The maple plates were fantastic, both warm and chilled. The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing, which was a welcome change after a funeral. It was great to sit back and enjoy some delicious food. I ordered the bang dish, while my friend opted for the mac, and both were absolutely tasty! I was also thrilled to discover that they offer a variety of other selections! I really enjoy their delicious treats, which are made fresh every day. The hot dishes are equally scrumptious. I particularly liked the Mac n Trees, while my friend preferred the Harvest Bowl. The atmosphere is cozy and cheerful, and the staff is incredibly friendly! This is an update from my previous review on May 1, 2022.
I love the mac 'n trees and breakfast burrito, but all I had here is so good. it is a small restaurant with just a few tables, but they do a good take-out business and also have a refrigerator with prepared meals they can take. check them facebook for updates on locks or low-suff tags and order them online for taking.
We went out of our way to have breakfast here. Wow...so many choices. The maple oat latte was great, and the breakfast burrito was the best I've had outside of my own home. The portions were huge, rendering lunch moot. I'm sorry I don't live near this restaurant; I'd be a regular.
